It's called sin. Sin is all the wrong things we think and say and do.
God says everyone has sinned:
For all have sinned... (Romans 3:23)

No matter how OK you seem on the outside, all of us were born selfish deep inside, not loving God and others the way we should. On our own, we keep sinning, no matter how hard we try not to. We're like slaves who need to be set free!

Sin brings shame and sadness—it ruins people's lives and keeps them from knowing God. He says after we die we all deserve to be sent away from Him to be punished forever.

But God is so good that He loves you anyway! He has a wonderful plan to rescue you from sin...
