PRAISE REPORTS
PRAISE God for our first Good News Club meeting of the season at Rose School in Escondido. In the photo above CEF director Robert Burkley teaches the memory verse, "The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation" (Ex. 15:2) to the 74 boys and girls who came. The Bible lesson on the life of Elijah taught that God promises to provide for the needs of His children and that He met our greatest need when He sent His Son to save us from sin.
PRAISE the Lord for the 12 dedicated Good News Club volunteers at our Escondido Teachers Forum on Saturday, three brand new to the ministry (photo above). There was a lot of exchange of good ideas and sharing of reports of all that God has been doing, along with preparation for teaching our upcoming Bible series on the prophet Elisha. PRAISE the Lord for the ten boys and girls who professed their faith in Christ as Savior last week at our North Broadway School GNC!
PRAISE God for the first GNC meeting of the season at Farr School. The volunteers report that three children were convicted by the Bible teaching and came for counseling, wanting to ask the Lord to forgive them for a specific sin each had committed. Pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to work in their hearts and minds and bring them to full faith in Christ as Savior.
PRAISE God for the first meeting of our GNC at Redwood Terrace Retirement Community. The volunteer leader reports: "What a joy it was to look at the way the students' faces beamed when they realized their faith in knowing Jesus was being fully encouraged and strengthened by everyone in the room. I cannot think of a greater earthly gift to give a child but the place of refuge within the loving encouragement of a grandparent who knows and follows the LORD."
PRAYER NEEDS
PRAY for our single greatest need -- VOLUNTEERS! Many of our clubs are understaffed and struggling to minister to all the kids who are coming or can't start until their teams are complete. The children are waiting. Please beseech the Lord to send laborers into His harvest!
PRAY for the first meetings of two Good News Clubs this week, La Costa Meadows School in Carlsbad on Tuesday, Oct 28, and McAuliffe School in Oceanside on Oct 30. Please pray for the Lord's empowerment of the volunteers as they get ready. Pray that parents will respond to the announcements they have received, and that lots of kids will come.
PRAY as churches and individuals distribute CEF Tel-A-Story cards to kids on Halloween. When kids call the number (760-722-4091) they'll hear a new Gospel-related story every day. If you'd like to give them out, you can download the cards, click here: http://cefkids.com/telastory.pdf
PRAY for a church in Vista which recently learned about after-school GNCs and wants to get involved. Please pray for the Lord's guidance as we meet with them to answer questions and as they move forward in their plans.
