PRAISE REPORTS

PRAISE God that the Vista school district has expedited our application for a Good News Club to start Jan 15. A Vista church had brought together a team of seven servants to reach the kids in a local school, but our application for Foothill Oak was denied by the school. Rather than delaying the start of the club with what would have been a lengthy appeal process to the school board, we decided to apply for another school instead -- Temple Heights Elementary. Everything went though in two days, we were given use of the library, and all is set to start after the new year! (Please be in prayer for the team of volunteers, all of whom are new to Good News Clubs.)

PRAISE the Lord for an invitation to speak to the Korean Women's Bible Study group on Wednesday morning. More than 50 women from all over North County came together for prayer, worship, and fellowship. They heard (in both English and Korean) about Good News Clubs in the public schools, then learned how to present the Gospel to kids using bracelets with beads the colors of the Wordless Book. In the photo above they're practicing telling the message to one another with the bracelets they've just made. They also learned about our Tel-A-Story and Mailbox Club ministries and the resources for kids on our website. Twenty-five signed up to receive the Praise & Prayer Bulletin and said they'd be praying for the needs of the ministry. After the meeting we feasted on a pot-luck lunch of dozens of delectable Korean delicacies.

PRAYER NEEDS

PRAY t
hat we would be granted approval for our first middle school club in North County! This past week we submitted our application for a "Teen GNC" club at Del Dios Middle School in Escondido. (Praise God for two Christian teachers at the school who volunteered use of their rooms for the club!) Please pray that the school district and principal will be favorably disposed, and that the application could be approved in time for the club to start in January. Pray for the Escondido church which will be sponsoring the club and for their youth pastor as he brings a team together to launch this new outreach to a needy age group.

PRAY with our Reidy Creek School GNC team as they ask the Lord to bring a male volunteer to join the team who would add a needed masculine dimension to the club leadership and serve as a godly role model, especially for the boys.

PRAY for our EIGHT after-school GNCs approved to start in January! The teams are scrambling to get everything done during this busy end-of-year time. Please be in prayer for all these teams and the many brand-new volunteers who are committing their time and hard work so that kids in the public schools will have the opportunity to meet the Savior and learn to follow Him. Please take a few moments to pray for each team (and the additional helpers many of them need), each school, and the 5,163 young lives represented (students as of 2007-08 in green):

Ada Harris (Cardiff) 355 children
Bonsall Elementary (Bonsall) 834 children
Glen View (Escondido) 771 children
Lincoln (Escondido) 576 children
LR Green (Escondido) 777 children
Reidy Creek (Escondido) 708 children
Solana Highlands (Solana Beach) 524 children
Temple Heights (Vista) 618 children

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.   --Mark 10:14-16

In the fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley
