PRAISE
REPORTS
..
PRAISE the
Lord for a great time at our Teachers Forum on Saturday in
Escondido! Twenty-eight enthusiastic Good News Club volunteers
were there, eager to get equipped for our upcoming lesson
series on the book of Esther. Many of them stayed for our
expanded workshop schedule. There was a lot of Christian
fellowship, getting acquainted with new volunteers, and lively
exchange of good ideas and information.

PRAISE God
that approval for our first middle school club in North County
came through from the district on Thursday for Del Dios School
(photos above). Thank you for all your prayers! This pioneering
club for grades 6-8 is scheduled to start Jan 20. Please
continue in prayer as 1,152 flyers go to the school on Monday for
distribution to every student. Pray for a positive response from
both students and parents! We're calling our middle school clubs
"Teen GNC" and they'll be using the CEF materials
"Following Jesus" designed for this age level.

PRAISE
God for the opportunity to give an update on our
ministry at the mini missions conference during the
Sunday service at First Baptist Church of Oceanside (photo
above). Many in the congregation hadn't known about Good News
Clubs in the schools. We showed our short DVD (click here to
watch the video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5443611924171412477) and told about all that
the Lord has been doing in North County schools. At our
literature table a number signed up to get the Praise &
Prayer Bulletin, and during the Sunday school hour the 1-3
graders heard a Good News Club lesson about Naaman and took
home a Wonder Devotional book and some things to help
them tell their friends about the Lord. Afterward at the luncheon
held for the visiting missionaries we were able to answer some
good questions about Good News Clubs in the schools.
PRAYER
NEEDS
PRAY for FIVE
Good News Clubs starting this week. For all of the clubs, please
pray for a great turnout the first day and that the Lord
would help the team members in their final
preparations. Pray for the peace and power of the
Holy Spirit in the lives of each volunteer as they get ready
to reach the children in the Lord's name. And please
pray for their special needs:
1.
Reidy Creek (Escondido), starting Jan 14. The
teacher in whose room the club will meet emails: "a teacher
at our school has agreed to help out with GNC. We still have to
work with our principal on the timing of our work with you.
Please pray for that conversation. May the Lord lead many open
hearts to our first meeting. I've already talked to several
parents who are excited that we are starting up again. I can't
wait!!"
2. Glen View (Escondido), starting Jan 15. Extra helpers
are needed on Thursdays from 1:25-2:25pm. Praise God for a
mother who called after receiving the flyer her daughter brought
home. She recently lost her job and had to take her daughter out
of a Christian school and enroll her at Glen View. She is
grateful that Good News Club will help meet her daughter's
spiritual needs in the new public school environment.
She also will be praying for the ministry and hopes to help get a
Moms In Touch prayer group going at the school.
3. Lincoln (Escondido), starting Jan 15. Extra helpers
are needed! Please pray that the Lord would speak to those
who are able to volunteer their time on Thursdays from 1:40
to 2:40pm.
4. L.R. Green (Escondido), starting Jan 15. Praise the Lord
for abundantly supplying the need for volunteers -- there are
nine on the team!
5. Temple Heights (Vista): starting Jan 15. Pray for this
church-sponsored club and the brand-new team as they launch
an outreach in their community. Please pray for the Lord's
guidance in organizing the team and the tasks of each individual
member. Pray for a blessed opening day.
PRAY that
the Lord would meet the urgent need for additional team members
at these clubs:
1.
Palmquist (Oceanside), meets Mondays 3:05-4:05pm. They have
recently lost two team members. The leader emails: "We need
more workers for the club at Palmquist to continue. I know
God is faithful and will bring the help needed if the club is to
continue."
2. Mission
Estancia (Carlsbad), meets Tuesdays, 2:20-3:30pm. The
small groups divided by age levels are bursting at the seams and
need additional volunteers to meet the need.
3.
Laurel (Oceanside), in development. The pastor who has
been recruiting volunteers needs a
few more for a full team. Please ask the Lord to
bring this club to pass so the kids at this school can
hear the Gospel!
4.
Bonsall Elementary , starting Jan 22. Praise God for a
brand-new team member who just signed on, but more help is needed
on Thursdays 1:40-2:40pm at this very big school which may well
have a very big turnout!
In the
fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. --Mark 10:14-16
