PRAISE
God for answered prayer! Three weeks ago we asked you to pray for a quick approval process for our new Good News Club starting at Hope School in Carlsbad. Within one hour of contacting the principal this week he emailed back his approval! He also approved our flyer the same day and posted it immediately on the school website! (click here to view:
http://www.hope.schoolloop.com/goodnewsclub) Please keep praying for the brand new volunteer team of mothers from this school as they prepare to begin the club on March 24 with teaching from the book of Daniel.

GNC - Juniper - 2009.02.11.1d

PRAISE the Lord for a special time at our Farr Ave and Juniper School Good News Clubs in Escondido this week -- guest evangelists Barry and Cheryl Webb paid a visit to both! The Webbs present the Gospel through puppets, ventriloquism, chalk drawings, and music. Holly Williams (in the photo above), who volunteers at both clubs, sends a report: "When we sang in the clubs Mr. Webb had a rabbit puppet named Jack to sing and do some silly stuff.

GNC - Juniper - 2009.02.11.4b

"Then he brought out a puppet that looked like a man and a monkey who talked about how we as people are not monkeys, and how monkeys are definitely not humans! God made us special! He taught the kids a catchy song about not being kin to a monkey that they could sing along with.

GNC - Juniper - 2009.02.11.3b

"Mr. Webb then brought out his wooden boy, Woody, who, through ventriloquism, told a story of how he rescued a friend from drowning, with animation and funny parts added in. He related that to how Jesus died to rescue us from sin.

GNC - Juniper - 2009.02.11.2a

"Mr. Webb then put the puppets away and talked to the kids a few minutes. He told a story of a little boy who wanted to witness to a bully in his classroom. He tried many times, but the bully wouldn't listen and just made fun of him. One day when the teacher stepped out of class, the bully threw something that tipped over a vase of roses on the teacher's desk. It fell off, broke, and the roses and glass went everywhere. When the teacher tried to find out who did it, no one would tell. Finally, the little boy who had been trying to witness to the bully got an idea! He said that he would take the punishment for the bully. The boy later got to explain to the bully how Jesus took our punishment, just as he had done for the bully. Mr. Webb then gave an invitation. It was very good! The kids really liked him!"

PRAISE the Lord for bringing children to Himself! Ramona Borders, our GNC leader at Ada Harris School in Cardiff, writes:

"The memory verse two weeks ago was Psalm 50:15: And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you, and you will honor me. One of the girls that accepted the Lord last week had memorized that verse. As I was counseling her in the hall, I asked, 'Why did you want to accept the Lord today?'

"She replied, 'I get in trouble at home. I get in trouble at school. I lie a lot and I cannot seem to stop. I need Jesus to help me.' I explained to her that He certainly would. And I am certain that the verse she had memorized that week had certainly touched her heart.

"I estimate that probably 75% of our kids this year are memorizing their verses. And with only a little encouragement from me. PRAISE THE LORD. We are so excited. The Lord is blessing our group in so many ways this year. It would be impossible for us to not praise the Lord."

PRAISE God for opening day on Thursday of our new GNC at Knob Hill School in San Marcos (photo above). Team leader Jackie Gelvin emails: "Our first meeting was exceptional! 30 kids attended and we had a great time. We were able to get through everything I had planned, plus time for some impromptu games. I’m really looking forward to next week."

PRAISE the Lord for the first meeting on Friday of our new Olivenhain Pioneer School GNC in the Encinitas district (photo above). To our emailed question "How did it go at GNC?" we got this swift reply from Letticia Atkins, our volunteer team leader: "It went wonderfully!! We had 50 kids! There were also plenty of moms that helped. It all went smoothly and the kids had lots of fun. The school let us use the auditorium and the PA system, so God's words were loud and clear."

PRAYER NEEDS

PRAY for the first meeting of our new GNC at Rock Springs School this Friday in Escondido. The flyers went out to the kids and their parents last week -- please pray for a positive response and a big turnout! Pray that each child who comes will listen and respond to the teaching of God's Word. Pray that kids who come the first day will invite their friends to return with them. Pray that when Christian parents at the school see the GNC in action they will be motivated to volunteer for the team to keep the club going next season.

PRAY as word goes out to all the campuses of North Coast Church in the coming weeks about a Good News Club informational meeting to be held at the Vista campus on March 8, 2:15-3:15pm. Please pray that all those with an interest in reaching kids for the Lord will hear about it and that many will be there to find out how they can get involved at their local schools in Vista, Fallbrook, Oceanside, and Carlsbad.

PRAY for responsive hearts as word goes out to seniors at an Escondido church about the need and the opportunity to volunteer at Good News Clubs.

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.   --Mark 10:14-16
