PRAISE
REPORTS
PRAISE God for our dedicated
volunteers -- they are the ministry! Meet Dolly Pitcher,
our newest member of the CEF family. Judy Erickson, leader at
Reidy Creek GNC, had been sending out informational emails to
friends, including Dolly. Dolly had never heard about the
opportunity to reach kids in the schools, but as soon as she
found out she sent us a one-line, right-to-the-point message:
"I live in Escondido and I would like to volunteer."
When we told her of the need at our new club starting at Rock
Springs School she signed up and was getting blessed exactly
one week later! Please help us reach those who, like Dolly, would
gladly get involved if only someone would inform them of the
opportunity -- please forward this link:

PRAISE the Lord for His blessings at
the first meeting of our new Rock Springs School club on
Friday. Above, kids and parents line up to enroll outside as soon
at the final bell sounds at 2:15.
All the kids from different grades and classes get a chance to meet and mingle and tell about themselves in a fun activity at the start of club.
There was lots of space in the big multi-purpose room for all sixty-two girls and boys who gathered to hear the Good News. Everyone already knew how to sing our first song, "Do You Know About Jesus?" (because it's set to the tune of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" -- click here to listen!). And song was the theme of the memory verse we learned, Exodus 15:2, from the song of Moses: "The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation..."
PRAISE the Lord that GNC kids are
praying for other GNC kids! Allie Scofield, team leader at McAuliffe
School in Oceanside, responded to last week's P&P
Bulletin: "Praise God for such a wonderful report! So
many schools now have a Good News Club! The kids at our club pray
for all clubs around the world and especially the new clubs in
North County...."
PRAISE God for meeting ministry needs.
Connie Gordon, our leader at the Bonsall Elementary club,
writes: "Last week our club was so out of order, and so I
really enlisted two Bible study groups to covenant to pray for us
at the exact time our club was in session, 1:40-2:40pm on
Thursday. God answered their prayers -- hallelujah! We began the
club with prayer and the children were so attentive during the
mission story, Esther lesson, memory verses, and music. We put
games at the end which worked much better. Glory to God and
praise to the power of prayer!"
PRAISE the Lord that our
longest-running club in Escondido at Oak Hill School
(photo above) was able to get underway again in early February.
Volunteer Judie Greiner reports: "We are off to a great
start with a great staff at Oak Hill!" Forty-five kids have
enrolled.
PRAYER
NEEDS
PRAY for our brand new Good News Club starting on Tuesday,
March 3 at a brand new school, Willow Grove in RP (photo
above). A group of Christian moms from the school led by Dee
Abell has been waiting patiently for construction to end so that
the GNC can get going! A lot of planning and preparation has gone
into the club, so please pray that the Lord will bless this
outreach to the kids and families of this community in a big way.
Pray that parents would respond to the flyers that went home last
week by signing their children up. Pray that kids would come out
in force, ready to hear from the Word of God. Pray that the Lord
would fill each team member with His Holy Spirit as they bring
the Good News of Jesus to the children of Willow Grove.
PRAY for a mother who called to say she can no longer afford to keep her daughter in a Christian school and wants to be sure the public school she enrolls her in has a Good News Club. She will be looking for an apartment based on that factor. Under the current economic conditions we have been getting a number of such calls from Christian parents. Some are now trying to form teams and start clubs at schools that have none. Please pray that out of hardship God will bring blessing, that He will glorify Himself and multiply the number of GNCs in schools so that more children can come to know Him and grow in Him.
PRAY for the launch of our middle
school ministry. The turnout at our first "Teen Good News
Club" at Del Dios School in Escondido was virtually nil.
After prayer, we've decided to try again with this
difficult-to-reach age group at Bear Valley Middle School,
starting March 17. The school does not distribute paper flyers to
students, so please pray that word would spread. The club will be
included on the school TV announcements, and we have been sending
flyers out to area church youth groups which have students at
Bear Valley to build up advance word. If you know anyone with
kids at Bear Valley, please pass along the link to the flyers so
they will know about it and can be inviting friends at school:

Please pray for our volunteer team members
led by Pastor Eric Maggio as they prepare, and pray that the Lord
would draw lots of middle school kids to come and learn from His
Word!
PRAY that the Lord would encourage many of our GNC
volunteers to come to our two Teachers Forum sessions on the book
of Daniel on March 7 & 9 (see complete info at the top).
In the fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. --Mark 10:14-16
