PRAISE REPORTS

PRAISE the Lord for the opportunity to
feature the after-school Good News Club ministry at Calvary
Chapel of Escondido on Sunday. Pastor Miles DeBenedictis invited
us to set up a literature table in the courtyard (photo above)
where 26 signed up to receive the Praise & Prayer Bulletin
and 8 signed up for more information about becoming GNC
volunteers! We were also given 15 minutes at each of the three
services (photo below) to present to the congregation the
opportunity to bring the Gospel to the kids in our local public
schools. Many were learning of it for the first time. Lots of
friendly people welcomed us, some of whom were old friends of CEF
and others brand new ones!

PRAISE God that North Coast Church,
where we just held an informational meeting on March 8, is now
ready to sponsor a Good News Club! They chose Mission Meadows School in Vista. When we contacted the
principal, Mrs Shaver, to request use of the facilities, she
emailed back: "I am already very
familiar with Good News Club. I was the Assistant Principal at
Breeze Hill where there was an active club for several years. In
fact, my son and daughter attended for a few years. I fully
support this program and the values that it instills in our
children." Then, even though our application was sent on
very short notice, she emailed on the last day before the start
of the two-week spring break, "I have 'Good News' -- I
received the facilities use form today and approved it." The
club is all set to start April 22! (Please be in prayer for
additional helpers needed.)

PRAISE the Lord for good news from the
father at Discovery School in San Marcos (photo above) who has
been working on starting a GNC there. On Friday he emailed:
"I have the approval with my job!!!!" He will be able
to take off work early on Fridays to lead the club. A team is in
place, and the application will be mailed on Monday. Please be in
prayer for a quick approval from the principal so that the club
will be all set before the spring break and able to start May 1.

PRAISE the Lord that Calvary Chapel Vista, which has been
sponsoring the Good News Club at Temple Heights School since
January, called to say they would like to start another
club this season at Beaumont School (photo above)! The
church held an informational meeting last weekend and fourteen
people expressed an interest in getting involved! But please be
in prayer -- the application was submitted for a start date of
April 23 but was disapproved by the school administration, citing
no rooms available. Pray that the district will be able to
overcome the obstacles and allow the club to go forward at this
school.
PRAYER
NEEDS

PRAY for our brand new GNC starting Tuesday at Laurel
School in Oceanside (photo above). If possible, be in prayer
during the time the club will be meeting, 3:05-4:05pm. Please
pray for a smooth first day with lots of blessings for both the
kids and the volunteer team! Pray that many kids will be there
and that they will be ready to learn as the Bible is taught. Pray
that the Lord would bring children to faith in Christ as they
hear the Good News. Pray for God's power and love in the hearts
of the volunteer team.

PRAY for our "new" Good News Club at Glen View
School in Escondido (photo above), starting this Thursday,
1:25-2:25pm. Judy Erickson, our team leader at the Reidy Creek
GNC, heard God's call to extend the club at Glen View this season
for an extra six weeks to be able to continue ministering to this
big and challenging group of kids. Through prayer God has
graciously brought together a whole new team of volunteers from
among Judy's friends to keep the Gospel light burning at this
school! Please pray the kids who were coming in the previous
session will be back, and that they'll bring friends with them.
Pray that God's Word would reach and change hearts. Pray that the
Lord would bless and reward the new team as they serve the
children in Jesus' name.
PRAY about a problem that has come up with the Poway
Unified School District. For years they have been distributing
our Good News Club flyers to the children, but this week we were
notified that because their board policy prohibits distribution
of "religious" flyers, they will not be accepting ours
until they consult their legal counsel. Numerous Federal court
decisions around the country have ruled that our flyers must be
given equal treatment with all others, and we have supplied
information about this to the district. Please pray that this
issue will be resolved very soon and in our favor.
In the
fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. --Mark 10:14-16
