PRAISE
REPORTS

PRAISE the Lord for the first meeting on Tuesday of the new
Good News Club at Laurel School in Oceanside! Above,
Pastor Michael Henderson gets some help in teaching the Bible
lesson from the book of Daniel. The memory verse was Ephesians
6:10, "Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power,"
and team member La Keisha Fairbee (photo below) helps the kids
memorize the Scripture by calling on volunteers to draw slips of
paper from a bag that tell of real-life situations they may face
at school in which they need to be strong in the Lord. Pastor
Henderson emails a praise report: "We have been assigned a
great classroom. It's actually in a very visible location. The
room is currently not being used during the day, which means we
will be able to access the room much earlier than we thought. Thanks
again for such an awesome opportunity to reach kids with the
Gospel. We are excited to have our club up and running. We look
forward to all the Lord will do in the coming weeks."

PRAISE God for the extra blessings that
come with being a Good News Club volunteer. Rock Springs
School team member Dolly Pitcher writes in her blog: "I
was grocery shopping with my husband yesterday when I heard this
little third grader run up behind me and loudly say 'Hi!' I
turned around, looked down and saw this sweet little face looking
up at me. Then quickly she added with a tooth-missing smile 'I
know you from the Good News Club!' Then I replied 'Yes you do and
you look beautiful today!' She smiled again and said 'There's my
dad, I have to go' and ran off down the cereal aisle. As I stood
there in that second it all seemed surreal and I knew that I was
right where God wanted me to be. Then I looked up to see my
husband with a little smile on his face, he put his arm around
me, winked and said 'Wow, you're kind of a big deal, huh?' and we
both began to laugh as we finished our shopping."

PRAISE the Lord for answered prayer! Last week we asked you
to pray about our application for a Good News Club at Beaumont
School in Vista which had been turned down. The Lord began to
move on several fronts. A Moms In Touch leader told us about a
Christian teacher at the school and the head of the PTA, who is a
believer, put in a good word for the club. Then on Wednesday an
official at the district office emailed and said that she had
contacted the principal (even though spring break is in progress)
and had obtained approval for the club to start late in April!
Please continue in prayer as this club prepares to get off the
ground.
PRAISE God for more answered prayer! Last week we
mentioned the need for prayer regarding the Poway district's
sudden refusal to distribute GNC flyers pending a decision from
their legal counsel. Late Monday a district official emailed:
"Thank you for your patience and understanding. We have
reviewed your flyer and will allow it to be distributed at our
elementary schools."

PRAISE the Lord for building the team
for our planned GNC at Discovery School in San Marcos! A
Christian teacher and parent at the school heard about the club
from a GNC volunteer in Carlsbad and wants to help. Then another
mom first learned about GNCs last Sunday at her church, took
information on starting a club, and signed up to receive the
Praise & Prayer Bulletin. In it she read about the club being
planned for Discovery and emailed back: "I am a mom at
Discovery. The thing is, I have an 8 month old baby, and wasn't
sure how I could spearhead the effort. I've been looking for a
way to get back into serving the Lord with kids. It is so
important that they hear the gospel before they get too old! I
have lots of experience working with the principal and school
district at the school because I'm a cub scout and brownie leader
too. I was so thrilled to see that a club will be forming. I
would love to be involved in some way. Can you forward my name
and information to the team leader?" On Thursday we received
provisional approval from the principal. But please be in prayer
that the arrangements would be finalized this week and that we
would be able to start the club 10 minutes after school dismisses
rather than the 35 minutes the principal would prefer.
PRAYER
NEEDS

PRAY for a GNC-in-development for Live Oak School in
Fallbrook. Volunteers from North Coast Church would like to hold
a 6-week club there starting April 29, but our application was
turned down, citing lack of any available room. The district
administration is now working with the school to gain approval.
Please pray for the Lord's intervention so that the Good News
will be able to reach the kids at Live Oak this school year.

PRAY for a girl who received a flyer and emailed inquiring
about our "Teen Good News Club" at Bear Valley
School in Escondido. Please pray that the Lord would
encourage her to come! She's an 8th grader and most of those who
have been attending have been 6th graders. A volunteer at the
club has noticed this "grade barrier" that keeps the
older kids from wanting to attend with the younger ones! Please
pray that the Lord would overcome the many obstacles to reaching
middle schoolers, and that He would work through this new club to
touch and change many lives at Bear Valley.
In the
fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. --Mark 10:14-16
