PRAISE
REPORTS
![]()
PRAISE the Lord for a report from Shannon Schmitt, team
member at our new Good News Club at Hope School in
Carlsbad (photo above): "We have already seen answers to
prayer in our first two meetings. Our numbers increased from 25
to 35 in one week. We also prayed specifically for older kids to
come and our second meeting had more upper grade students. A
grandma stopped me at the store today to say how much she
appreciates the club. Her grandson told her that he knew Jesus
died but he learned during the story at GNC that Jesus died for
him. All the glory belongs to God as we have seen Him working at
Hope!"
PRAISE God for a grandfather who
recently signed up to get the Praise & Prayer Bulletin at his
church and responded right away to say he wants to help! He's
already been screened as a new GNC volunteer, and he lives right
down the street from Rock Springs School, where we are
hoping to build a team to carry on the club next season!

PRAISE the Lord that the team at the
new GNC at Laurel School in Oceanside (photo above) has
been so blessed that they want to extend the club four more weeks
to June 9! Team leader Pastor Michael Henderson emails: "I'm
excited to report that we had a few new kids on this past
Tuesday. We also had one of the members of the faculty attend the
session. She's a Christian with a love in her heart for kids. She
knew that some of her Spanish-speaking children wanted to attend
and would need an interpreter. After the first two weeks the team
feels like we should take advantage of the remaining weeks of
school in order to continue building relationship with the
kids." Praise the Lord that the school secretary helped with
getting approval for the extension in one day, and new flyers
will go out to the kids when they return from break!
PRAYER
NEEDS
![]()
PRAY for the great need in the lives of our middle school
students. Judy Erickson, who leads our GNCs at two elementary
schools, Reidy Creek and Glen View, and who is a team member at
the Bear Valley Middle School club, writes: "I ran into a
mom from our church who has signed up for this e-newsletter. She
has a real burden for her daughter at Rincon Middle School,
where they are being taught evolution. She said the history
teacher who's teaching them about religions is telling them that
Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians, because they 'believe in
Jesus.' The daughter said, 'No, that's not true.' Although the
mom truly wants a club at Rincon, she works down in San Diego, so
will pray that God will provide the volunteers to open up a club
at Rincon. On the up-side, the daughter and her Jehovah Witness
friend are reading the Bible together mornings before school. And
the JW girl keeps discovering stuff she never saw before in the
Bible!"

PRAY for our final burst of new Good News Clubs this
season! SIX new clubs are scheduled to start (Beaumont,
Discovery, James Dukes, Mission Meadows, Pioneer, Stone
Ranch -- and Live Oak is one more we're praying for).
We praise God for how He has been multiplying the ministry and
that with these new clubs we will have reached ONE IN FOUR
elementary schools in North County (map above) this school year!
Please pray for each of these clubs as the dedicated volunteer
teams get ready to bring the truth to the kids in their
communities. Click here for an updated interactive GNC map, and
please pray over those schools that have GNCs and those
that are still waiting: http://cefkids.com/schools0809
PRAY as word goes out this week to kids and parents at
three of the schools listed above, James Dukes, Mission
Meadows, and Stone Ranch. At James Dukes, please pray that
approval for the flyers, which has met with delay by the
district, will come on Tuesday so they can be rushed to the
school and sent out this week. At Stone Ranch, where
"paperless" electronic distribution is the rule, please
pray that the word will reach lots of parents and that the team's
plan to pass out paper flyers on campus or in front of the school
will get the message out effectively. At all three schools, pray
for a big and positive response from kids and parents!
PRAY as the teams for the Mission Meadows and Discovery
GNCs meet for training and orientation this week. Pray that the
Lord would use this time to encourage and equip each new
volunteer for ministry in His name.
PRAY again that approval for our GNC at Live Oak School
in Fallbrook will come through this week. After disapproval at
the school level, the matter has gone to the head of district
department.
PRAY that a teacher at Discovery
School will step forward and volunteer use of her or his room
for our new GNC there so we can start at the time we'd prefer.
The principal has put out word to the teachers.
In the
fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. --Mark 10:14-16
