PRAISE
REPORTS

PRAISE the Lord for two new Good News Club teams! On Monday
we held another training session for our final GNCs of the
season. At left above is Michael Haas, leader of our new club at Discovery
School in San Marcos (fellow team member Tonya Jamois had to
miss the photo op). Most of the team for our new club
at Live Oak School in Fallbrook was also there: Nancy
Dederich, Marylin Cachat, Margot Holman, Kristen Heimbigner, and
Richard Kurtz. Joy, enthusiasm, commitment, and good questions
were all in abundance.

PRAISE God for a great first meeting of
our GNC at Pioneer School (photo above) in Escondido on
Friday. Below, 63 kids line up to sign up!

They fill the room (photo below), ready to
participate and hear God's Word. Holly Williams teaches the
memory verse with no shortage of volunteers to help! After the
Bible lesson seventeen boys and girls who'd responded to the
Gospel message were counseled from Scripture.

PRAISE God for helping kids to put Him first! Dee Abell, our
team leader at Willow Grove School emails: "A mom
told me today that her son loves the GNC and that he wanted to
miss baseball and come to the club -- and she said he could. She
said he loves it. I am so blessed to be a part
of GNC, I cannot wait to start up some new ones."

PRAISE the Lord for all He's doing
at our new club at Mission Meadows School in Vista, which
had its second session on Wednesday. Above, team member Debbie
Christian leads the group in an animated song.

Bible teacher Jeanelle Higgins (above) teaches the kids that God
gave Daniel the wisdom to understand the king's dream of the
great image and that He promises to give His children wisdom in
their lives when they ask Him for it! Jeanelle emails: "It's
thrilling that we have such an opportunity to share the Good News
at Mission Meadows. The Lord has answered our prayers to bring in
the kids -- we had 36 this past Wednesday."

Above, boys and girls who responded to the Good News gather
around team member Dave Slottje (hidden from view) to be
counseled.

PRAISE the Lord for Christian school
teachers who are getting involved at Good News Clubs! Above,
5th-grade teacher Walt Brame teaches the memory verse at Reidy
Creek School in Escondido. A fun way to memorize it is
"Stop & Go" -- kids say the verse when the
"light" is green and stop when it's flipped to red. The
club meets each week in the room of teacher Stephanie Glanz who
also volunteers on the team.

PRAISE God for new volunteers that keep GNCs going! Above,
our Glen View School club in Escondido was able
to keep going this season because of faithful new team
members like Judy Morning (teaching the Scripture verse) and
Concha Laine (far right).
PRAYER
NEEDS
PRAY for a vital need sent by Mary Schuhler, a leader at the Felicita School GNC in
Escondido: "We
broke into small groups today. I asked the five girls in my group
that have been there all year, 'If you died today, do you think
you would go to heaven?' One said yes because she goes to church
each week, another said yes because of some other works-related
answer, and the last two said no because they did something bad
recently. I encouraged the two who spoke about their sin, saying
that the first step towards salvation is to admit their sin.
My prayer request is that these kids would understand grace.
I've explained it every week since the beginning of the year
(other leaders confirm that I'm explaining it clearly). Please
pray that God would open their minds to salvation by grace and
possibly show us some fruit in the next two weeks." We have
found that this hindrance to understanding the Gospel -- the
belief that salvation is merited -- is the most widespread one
among both kids and adults. The concept of the free grace of
God is completely foreign to our fallen human nature. Please pray
for the power of God's Spirit through His living Word to be at
work in both teachers and hearers so that kids will grasp
the saving truth!
PRAY for our last new GNC of the season -- it
opens at Live Oak School in Fallbrook on Wednesday
(1:15-2:15pm). Please pray for each member of the team, all of
them new to GNCs, as they prepare. Pray for the Lord's
wisdom, peace, and unity for the team. Pray that parents will
respond to the announcements and for a big turnout of kids --
including many who have not yet heard who Jesus is. Pray that the
Lord would bring kids to Himself through faith in His Son. Pray
that over the weeks the club meets there will be growth and
change in many young hearts.
PRAY again for the Mothers' Day weekend offering that will
be taken for CEF of North San Diego County at a large
Escondido church in lieu of discontinued monthly support. Please
pray that the Lord would meet the serious financial need by
greatly blessing and multiplying the gifts of God's
people for the work of reaching the kids in His name.

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. --Mark 10:14-16
