PRAISE
REPORTS

PRAISE the Lord for the start of our last
new Good News Club of the season at Live Oak School in
Fallbrook on Wednesday. The first-day turnout was small, but the
blessings were big for the volunteer team, including Margot
Holman and Richard Kurtz, shown above leading a song. Bible
teacher Nancy Dederich introduced the lesson series with the
story about Daniel and his friends refusing the king's food. The
kids learned that they, too, can "be strong in the Lord, and
in the power of his might" (Ephesians 6:10).

PRAISE God for
our other club in the Fallbrook district and for opening
up this school system to GNCs this season! Our first Fallbrook
club started on Camp Pendleton in January at Mary Fay
Pendleton School. Above, team member Jack Fitch leads the
kids in prayer at a recent meeting.

PRAISE the Lord for a
report from team leader Michael Haas about the first meeting on
May 1 of the new GNC at Discovery School in San Marcos
(photos above and below): "We had 21 children and 9 received
Jesus on Friday. It went well and we had a VERY well-behaved
group of children...it was a JOY!!! Most took flyers with them to
give to their friends."
Three days later Mike was again used by the Lord at the school:
"Yesterday, I went to the school after hours to shoot
baskets with my son. A boy on a bike fell and appeared to have a
severe injury, bleeding out of his eye sockets and mouth. A big
pool of blood was on the ground next to him. The boys called me
over to help, as there was no one else around. I immediately
prayed for him, that he would live and not die and for his brain
to be perfectly normal. The boy was slipping out of consciousness
and I was speaking to him telling him to talk to Jesus directly
and invite Jesus to help him. We called his dad and emergency.
The ambulance came and drove him to Palomar hospital. Three and a
half hours later I got a call from the dad thanking me for being
there and telling me that the boy was perfectly fine and that he
only received a cut on his upper lip! Thank God that He is still
a healer!"

PRAISE God for
His blessings at our new GNC at Beaumont School in Vista.
Five new volunteers signed on to form the team, and Pastor Sam
Cracchiolo, who also leads the club at Temple Heights School,
sent this report: "What a blessing! The school welcomed us
with open arms. Our first day was April 30. We had 22 children
plus 3 parents join us. The children were so excited to be there
and when we did the invitation to receive Christ, 15 children
raised their hands."

PRAISE the Lord
for an update from team leader Cathy Goldstein about the second
week of our GNC at James Dukes School in Ramona (photo
above): "We currently have 31 kids enrolled. It's going
great."

PRAISE God for
the completion of our first season of GNC at LR Green School
in Escondido! In the photo above Lisa Quiroz teaches the
missionary story. Below, Moni Garcia presents the Bible lesson.
Christina Dillane writes: "One year ago we met weekly to
pray for God to open the doors. We knew that this school
represented children from around the world, many of whom have
never had the opportunity to see a Bible or know its message. We
continued to meet in the fall, faithfully expecting that God
would make all the provisions in His perfect timing. And so He
did -- on Jan. 15 we were able to start with 9 team members,
including several parents. One mother came by after our last club
on Apr. 30 to thank us for having the GNC where her son could
come and bring his friends who got to hear of God's Son for the
first time. A school board member expressed her joy of knowing
that the GNC was at LR Green. She sent special gifts to give the
children on the last day. Our host teachers were thrilled to have
the club in their rooms. The team is enthusiastic to plan for an
early start in Sept. and continue the strong witness of God's
Word. Praise Him!"

PRAISE
the Lord for clubs, like Lincoln School in Escondido, that have
enough helpers to be able to divide the group by age level.
Above, Maria Edge teaches the K-2 group. One of our recent object
lessons uses a glass of dark liquid which turns clear,
illustrating that Jesus washes away our sins. Maud Middleton, who
teaches the 3-5 graders, reports on how it went: "We started
out having questions regarding whatever they were confused about.
We had some very interesting questions, and of course while I
presented the experiment you could hear a pin drop. As the dark
liquid slowly turned into clear water, loud ooohs and aaahs
filled the room. After that they had a lot of other questions as
the story of Daniel unfolded about the sorcerers and astrologers.
'Do ghosts really exist?' was one question. I shared my
experiences when I was their age and lived in Indonesia, where
evil spirits are very real, and how my father always told me that
if you have Jesus in your heart, you don't have to be afraid.
Just call on the Lord and trust Him to protect you. Stay away
from friends who call up these spirits and ask God to give you
wisdom to do what is right."

PRAISE the Lord for the
last meeting of the season of our GNC at Mission Estancia
School in the Encinitas district (photo above). Leader Mary
Jo Stowe emails: "It was a glorious time of worship with
'Worship for Kids' -- it was so lively that the after-school
'study buddy' group of 25-30 kids came and joined in! To Him be
all the glory."
PRAISE God for
each one who stopped by our table at Emmanuel Faith Church on
Mothers' Day weekend to learn about the GNC ministry. Five wanted
to receive the Praise & Prayer Bulletin and four signed up to
find out about becoming volunteers.
PRAYER
NEEDS
PRAY for the
Live Oak School team as they pass out flyers at lunchtime
on campus early this week. Please pray that word would spread by
this means and through the Moms In Touch group so that LOTS of
new kids will be there on Wednesday. Pray that the kids who were
there last week and who took flyers will be faithful to invite
their friends.
PRAY for the boy at Ada Harris School in Cardiff
that team leader Ramona Borders wrote about two weeks ago. She
emails this update: "He came to visit last week. I talked
with him and expressed my sadness that his cousin was killed. I
also asked him if he was in a gang. He said no. He said he no
longer comes to GNC because he has baseball practice. However, he
was able to stay until 3:30 and said he would come back this next
week and stay as long as possible. Keep praying that the Lord
will touch this young boy's heart."
PRAY for our outreach next Sunday, May 17, at the
Escondido Street Faire. (Please stop by -- we'll be on the south
side of Grand Ave. between Broadway and Maple in space 572.)
Please pray for good weather and for lots of kids and parents at
our booth. We'll be inviting boys and girls in to make gospel
bracelets and hear all about Jesus! Pray that the Lord would open
hearts to the truth and bring kids to Himself. Pray for the Word
of God to go out in power as we distribute 300 Bibles on CD-ROM
and sign kids up for free Bible lessons by mail.
In the
fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. --Mark 10:14-16
