Do kids come to Christ at the County Fair?

Just ask Ron Hoofard! He stopped by our Story Castle at the SD County Fair three seasons back to tell us that he was born again at age 5 at our booth in 1963!  "The woman volunteering shared with me Isaiah 1:18, 'Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow...'  I asked Jesus to forgive me and make my heart clean from sin." Ron has been following the Lord ever since. To our volunteers he adds, "What you do at the fair affects kids for a lifetime. I am living proof. Keep up the good work." PRAISE REPORTS

PRAISE the Lord for all He is doing in young lives at our first middle school club, which began meeting in Escondido in March. Above, far right, is team member Max Anguiano. Pastor Eric Maggio, shown leading a song, emails: "One of our kids accepted the Lord at the Bear Valley Middle School Teen Good News Club on May 5. He doesn't have a church and never had asked Christ into his life before."

PRAISE God for this encouraging word for all our volunteers, sent from Oceanside this week by someone who met the Lord 69 years ago at Good News Club and who describes herself as "a looooong time friend of CEF, saved in a club in 1940, led clubs during the 50s and 60s in Colorado and California, and a great great grandmother":

"Dear ones in the Lord, thank you for your efforts in expanding and supporting the Good News Clubs. It is so exciting to receive all of the reports about clubs which have been started in the schools. It is an added pleasure to discover that people whom I know from other venues are now serving CEF clubs. The 'frosting on the cake' of course is the number of children and adults who have come to accept Christ and those who are growing in faith. I pray from the North County e-mail bulletin almost daily." --Jo Sterkel

PRAISE the Lord for answers to prayer! Last week there was a rather disappointing first-day attendance at our new GNC at Live Oak School in Fallbrook (photo above). We asked you to pray for the team as they passed out flyers on campus, and that word would spread and the Lord would bring in the kids. Team leader Margot Holman sent a report on Wednesday: "Praise God! We had 24 new members today! More than 5 made a decision for Christ. We are excited that God is using us to accomplish His plan!"

PRAISE God for more answered prayer -- He very graciously blessed the special offering taken for CEF at a local church on Mother's Day!

PRAISE the Lord that GNC leader Judy Erickson was able to have a GNC display table at her church's ministry fair on Saturday to help get the word out. Eleven signed up to receive the Praise & Prayer Bulletin.

PRAYER NEEDS

PRAY for a need sent by Letticia Atkins, our team leader at Olivenhain Pioneer Elementary in the Encinitas district: "The GNC from OPE has an important prayer request. One of our own was in a serious accident. A 4th grade boy was hit by a car and is currently at Children's Hospital with very serious injuries. A prayer vigil was held and many people are praying for him and his family. We ask as many as possible to pray for his recovery and for his family." The boy did not attend the GNC, but the kids at club have been joining in prayer for him. Please pray that through this sad event many hearts would turn to the Lord, and that the GNC might be used of God as an instrument of His love at this time.

PRAY that many of our GNC volunteers will be able to be at the County Fair ministry this year, and also that we'll see lots of first-time volunteers. Pray especially that young people will get involved and that church youth groups will want to take whole days at the fair as we've seen in past seasons.

PRAY that we would be able to see progress over the summer in getting one or more Good News Clubs underway next school year in the last sizable district without any -- Valley Center/Pauma. Many have been praying for this area and expressing interest, but no church or team of individuals has taken the opportunity. Please ask the Lord to send forth laborers into this waiting harvest field.
