What can you do in 4 hours at the County Fair?

Be a part of reaching thousands of kids and their parents with the gospel! It's the biggest annual event in SD County -- over 1.25 MILLION admissions each season -- and last year over 3,700 of them visited CEF's Story Castle to hear the message of salvation in Jesus. Sign up for a four-hour shift on a team of three as a storyteller or helper on a day that's convenient for you, and turn an outing at the fair into service for the Lord that will bring blessings to others and yourself! Call 760-480-4191 or find out more here: http://cefkids.com/fair

And please come to either of our 1-hour orientation sessions:

PRAISE REPORTS

PRAISE the Lord for multi-generational Good News Club teams! At Glen View School in Escondido kids, teens, and adults work together for the Lord (photo above). In the back row from left are Judy Morning, Judy Erickson, Elaine Kotter, Guy Gola, Hannah Romo, Loren Kotter and Concha Laine. Concha homeschools her four kids, David, Joy, Amy and Michael, who come along and help with setup and passing things out. Loren is 18, and Hannah, who is 16, was there for the very first time on Thursday.

PRAISE
God for creative ways to help kids learn Scripture by heart. Rather than merely drilling the verse, at Good News Club we have a fun activity that turns repeating it into a game. Above, Holly Williams leads the group at Pioneer School in Escondido on Friday in a round of "toss the cat" -- each time the beanbag is caught the whole group says the next word. Everyone wants a turn, and before you know it, kids can say the whole verse without even looking! (BTW the verse is, "If any man serve me, let him follow me" John 12:26.) The kids also get a copy to take home so they can practice during the week.

PRAISE God for this end-of-season report from Maud Middleton, GNC leader at Lincoln School in Escondido: "Our last GNC was May 21. The kids were very excited -- they got their Bibles and other awards for finishing their verse albums and saying their verses. The 5th graders were sad to leave and one 4th grader, who is going to another school, asked if she still could attend here next year. I had to go back on campus this Thursday to catch some of the other 5th graders I missed last week and had promised Bibles to. One boy in particular was worried about having to be gone on a field trip. I ran out of Bibles, but praise the Lord for answering my prayers and leading me to pass a Bible bookstore where I found excellent NTs for 50 cents each. To my surprise after I gave one Bible out the word spread and many more kids, who missed out last week because of the field trip, stopped by and wanted Bibles. I gave all 22 NTs out this week. What a wonderful God we have!"

PRAISE the Lord for a message from Bohdana Bruccoleri, leader of the Reynolds School GNC in Oceanside, which wound up for the school year on Friday: "Just to let you know we had a total of 46 children enroll this year. How wonderful to know that 46 children had the Gospel presented to them! What a blessing to be able to bring Bible truths to children who are in public school. They have been so eager to recite their memory verses throughout the entire club time. It is an honor to be a part of this ministry -- thank you again for allowing us the privilege to do a GNC at Reynolds Elementary."

PRAYER NEEDS

photo - Olive School, enhanced

PRAY
for a teacher at Olive School in Vista who called to say that the Lord has been prompting her to bring Good News Club back to her school. We had a club there last season, but it wasn't able to continue this year. Most of the kids at Olive stay for an hour after school for tutoring and the teacher thinks holding GNC after tutoring would work out best. She would then be off duty and free to lead the club. Please pray for the Lord's wisdom as she moves forward and as she works to recruit a team to start in September. Pray that more teachers at other schools could get involved, too, like Walt Brame and Stephanie Glanz at the Reidy Creek School club in Escondido (photo below).

PRAY
for GNC leader Judy Erickson as she works to recruit a team for a club at her grandchildren's school in Temecula to start in September: "It's an incredible open door for the Gospel of Christ into Temecula Elementary, known as the neediest school in the district. That door was closed to us for five years. With a new principal coming, we're trying again. They have given me two weeks to find a team so they can submit the application to the district for us to have a club in the fall." Please pray that three or four will commit to the team in the next two weeks!

PRAY for the schoolmates, friends, and family of the boy at Olivenhain Pioneer School in Carlsbad for whom we requested prayer two weeks ago. He was hospitalized for serious injuries after being struck by a car, but this week we learned that he didn't pull through.

PRAY
for our GNC at Ocean Air School in Del Mar (photo above).
Team leader Nancy Wheeler requests prayer for additional team members needed for next season. Please ask the Lord to bring committed servants to help reach and teach the kids at this school of over 500 students.

In the fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.   --Mark 10:14-16
