Teachers Forum begins with "Beginnings", Sep. 12 & 14

What truth could be more basic or important for kids in public school to know than that "in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth"?

Where else at their schools but Good News Club will they learn that God created them for a purpose -- to know Him personally through His Son?

If you think reaching kids for the Lord is vital, whether you're currently a Good News Club volunteer or just interested in finding out more, please come to our first Teachers Forum of the season in Escondido or Carlsbad.

We'll be getting ready to bring Bible lessons from Genesis to young minds and hearts. Please click here to learn more:

PRAISE REPORT

PRAISE
the Lord for two Good News Club informational meetings scheduled for August 30 at North Coast Church in Vista and September 10 at Horizon Christian Fellowship in Rancho Santa Fe. We'll be presenting the ministry to those who want to know more and have an interest in getting involved at their local schools. Please pray for good turnouts at both meetings and that the Lord would use the meetings to help bring the Gospel to more kids in North County! PRAYER NEEDS

PRAY
for the many after-school Good News Clubs with big needs, including:

The team for the club at Mission Estancia School in Carlsbad will be meeting on August 24. Pray that potential new team members who have been invited to the meeting will be there and sign on to help! Pray for the new club leader, Tamara Reed, as she and the team make plans. The school Multi-Purpose Room for which we have applied may not be available, in which case the large club would have to meet in two classrooms. Pray that we would be able to use the MPR and also for the additional volunteers who would be needed if that doesn't happen.

The leader of the club at El Camino Creek School in Carlsbad (above), Lynda Wennerstrom, will not be able to continue in that role this season. She emailed her team: "We need to continue to reach churched and unchurched children at ECC and we need to come up with ways to get the word out and reach a bigger audience....I ask that you pray for our GNC, its volunteers and for someone to step up to take the lead. Also pray that ECC will give us a comfortable room to hold GNC in and that we will not be left at the lunch tables this year.

The team for the club at Torrey Hills School in the Del Mar district (above) is down to just two! Please join them in their prayers for additional helpers so that this club, which has been faithfully meeting for several years, can continue reaching the kids.

photo - McAuliffe School

The leaders of the club at Christa McAuliffe School in Oceanside (above), Bill & Allie Scofield, who have been serving there for years, are retiring. Please pray that the Lord would bring new leadership and add volunteers to the team so that the light of His truth can keep shining at this school!

Last season the leader of our new club at Palmquist School in Oceanside (above) suddenly had to move away, and the club had to end early. This season no one on the team from last season is able to continue. Please pray that God would make a way!

The planned club for Casita Center School in Oceanside, which grew out of the big 5-Day Club held at a nearby park this summer, is in limbo. The school turned down our request for use of the facilities, and in response to our appeal to the superintendent, the issue was to have been resolved last Monday. As of last Friday we still had not heard anything. Please pray for the Lord's intervention so that this club can start as we had hoped on Sep. 24!

Teri Chalfant, leader of the team at LR Green School in Escondido (above), emails: "Our prayer request is for a few more volunteers, for good organization, provision of materials, and for timeliness in getting started."

Judy Erickson who leads two GNCs in Escondido, writes: "Please pray for the teams at Reidy Creek and Glen View, who have lost some volunteers who need to be replaced. Thank God for those who are stepping forward!"

In the fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.   --Mark 10:14-16
