SPREAD THE WORD!

Help us get out the word that Christians are free to reach kids for the Lord in the public schools through after-school Good News Clubs. Many believers are unaware of this golden opportunity that God has opened up. Please check out this link then copy it and send it far and wide in emails to friends and family:

PRAISE REPORTS

PRAISE
the Lord for a very blessed first session of our Teachers Forum on Saturday in Escondido. Above, so many volunteers showed up that they couldn't all fit in the photo! There was a lot of lively exchange of ideas, sharing of prayer needs of Good News Clubs, and praise reports. Below, CEF director Robert Burkley demonstrates the teaching of the memory verse from an upcoming lesson about Adam and Eve: "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Cor. 5:21).

PRAISE the Lord that a prayer request of the Felicita School GNC for additional helpers was answered at the meeting on Saturday when team leader Mary Schuhler connected with a lady who had come to the class for the first time to find out more about getting involved and said she'd like to join the Felicita team! Please keep praying for a complete team.

PRAISE God for answered prayer! We have been requesting prayer about the denial of access for the new Good News Club at Casita Center school in Vista. The issue had remained unresolved for weeks, but on Thursday we got word from the district that we have been assigned a room, and the club plans to start on its scheduled date of Sep 24. Please remain in prayer for leader Linda Gonzalez and her team as they scramble to get the flyers printed and distributed and get ready to begin ministering to the children.

PRAISE
the Lord for a great showing and all the friendly enthusiasm at our GNC informational meeting on Thursday at Horizon Christian Fellowship in Rancho Santa Fe (photo above). There was a lot of interest in seeing new clubs start at schools in the area, like Flora Vista and Solana Santa Fe, as well as seeing clubs restarted at Solana Pacific and Roger Rowe. Please pray for all these clubs!  And one mom from Sage Canyon School volunteered on the spot, making it possible to restart a club which wasn't able to meet last season.

Jukay Lu, the team leader for Sage Canyon, passes along this encouraging message from Diana
Roeck, a ministry prayer partner:

"I know the Lord has put on my heart to intercede for the public schools in North County.  The GNCs are such a tremendous opportunity to share the Great News of Jesus with children. Know that I continue to pray for open doors in the schools and volunteers to staff them. Before school began, I went to all the Solana Beach schools and the district office and prayed that doors would be open in each of the schools. I work in the Cardiff district and also went to our district office and schools. I also went to Sage Canyon school in the Del Mar district. The Lord put powerful prayers on my heart when I was praying for that school."

PRAISE God for this final report from the big 5 day club held this summer at an apartment complex in Carlsbad, led by La Keisha Fairbee:

"What's really exciting is that the children are still hungry for the Word!  I am stopped at least three times a week and asked for a Bible story. Two weeks ago, at a community picnic one girl sat patiently beside me for an hour as I tried to share with her the "red day" story (from the Wordless Book, about Jesus dying for us) and run the obstacle course at the same time!

"One night a few days after the 5 day club was over, I was sharing the "dark day" story (about sin) to the kids again. A Jr. Higher began asking what do we believe and how do we know it's true? As we began to answer, the Lord led us to ask what HE believed and does he think it's true? Turned out he didn't know WHAT he believed and had lots of questions trying to learn the truth! We spent two hours with him and while he didn't commit to the Lord at that moment, he left with Truth and with a peace he didn't have before!

"Please keep us in prayer as we seek the Lord's will on how He would have us to continue to reach out to these young people and disciple them." (La Keisha is seeking God's will about a Good News Club at the complex or at the nearby public school.)

PRAISE the Lord for His work in the lives of children! Dee Abell, leader of the GNCs last season at Stone Ranch and Willow Grove schools writes: "Two girls from GNC came to church this morning, Hallelujah!! Yes, they accepted Jesus at the club. God is Good...all the time."

PRAYER NEEDS

PRAY
for two Good News Clubs starting this Friday, Sep 18:

ScreenHunter_01 Sep. 13 14.46

Los Pen School (Poway district, 3:15-4:30pm)

ScreenHunter_02 Sep. 13 14.47

Richland School (San Marcos, 3:20-4:20pm).

If possible, please intercede for these clubs while they are meeting. Pray that parents will be open to letting their kids attend. Pray for big turnouts. Pray that God's Holy Spirit would empower the teachers of the Word and help children to listen and understand the truth. Pray that kids would come to Christ and begin growing in Him week by week! Pray that Christian kids will be strengthened in their faith.

PRAY for clubs that need helpers, including these in Escondido:

ScreenHunter_05 Sep. 13 15.02

Bear Valley Middle School - Pastor Eric Maggio, who leads the club asks for prayer for committed team members who are able to serve on Mondays at this school and that the Lord would bring together a second team for Fridays who would be able to serve at another of Escondido's middle schools.

Pioneer School - We were able to reach this school for just 6 weeks at the end of last school year. Please pray that God would bring the servants needed to make this a full-season club!

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.   --Mark 10:14-16
