PRAISE REPORTS

PRAISE
the Lord for team leader Judy Erickson's reports on the first meetings of the season at the two clubs she leads in Escondido. At Reidy Creek School on Wednesday (photo above) "there were 64 kids, and we were totally blessed in every way possible. Thanks for all the prayers!" Two teachers at the school are part of the GNC team -- Stephanie Glanz, in whose room the club is held, will be teaching some of the Bible lessons this year, and Walt Brame (above) teaches the memory verse. Says Judy, "We all loved Mr. Brame's treatment of the memory verse lesson. He was soooooooo funny."

At Glen View Elementary on Thursday, "God really came through for us. After losing two volunteers, He gave us three new ones -- one just a week before club, a second just two days before, and a third a mere two hours before club. Plus two of the new volunteers have vision and desire to become club leaders. It was encouraging when a boy who consistently has been a challenge since last season ended up volunteering to say the closing prayer, a very sweet prayer. God is so good." There were 65 boys and girls that first day, 12 of whom professed their new faith in Christ.

PRAISE God for the first meeting of the new season at Hope School in Carlsbad (above). Team leader Jessica Huebner emails, "Everything went very smoothly! We have a praise for 28 kids in club on Tuesday!
We need prayer for many more new kids to come to club. And we are THANKFUL for 5 awesome volunteers. It really makes things go well!"

PRAISE the Lord for new leader Carrie Patch's email about the first day at Ada Harris School in Cardiff (above): "Everything went great. We had 13 children registered. We had fun playing a 'get-to-know-you' game with a beach ball. I toss the ball and they catch it. Whatever color their right hand is on when they catch it, I ask a question -- if their hand landed on yellow, I ask their favorite ice cream. The kids loved it. They listened well during the story and I was amazed how well they memorized the verse, since I thought it was so long! Kids are smart! All but 2 children attended last year's class, so I was familiar with most of them. No responses to the gospel invitation (many already know the Lord - praise God!). We invited children passing by the classroom after school -- so hopefully we'll have some more faces next week."

PRAISE God for the first meeting of the brand new club at Casita Center School in Vista on Thursday. Leader Linda Gonzalez sends this report: "This week I had opportunity to meet the principal of the school. She was very pleasant and graciously took me to the room where the club will meet and introduced me to the teacher. She welcomed me and said she was glad to have the club there. We are greatly humbled by all that God is doing in His work there. The first day the Lord blessed with 42 children in attendance. Two teachers from the school came from out of the blue and introduced themselves and helped while we did registration. Thank you, Jesus, because we were short of help! A good number of the chldren had attended 5-Day Club this summer and it was great to see them and their mothers. Another teacher came over and expressed her appreciation for the club and took permission forms to give to her class. We thank God for these blessings and answered prayers from all of you who are praying for the club. Please continue to intercede that God will provide more workers and that He will bring many children into his kingdom."

PRAYER NEEDS

PRAY for a grandmother who lives near Orange Glen School in Escondido, and that the Lord would help her lead the way in getting a GNC going to reach the 700 kids at this school. This week she contacted us by email: "I have been contemplating starting a Good News Club in our neighborhood. This has been on my heart for quite some time now. In conversations with my grandchildren and their friends and even the kids at our church, I see that we have a very troubled generation. I long to be a servant that God uses and yet I don't know how. I lost my job last year and I guess now is a good opportunity to get started. I was a Good News Club goer as a child and I hope to be able to reach some child who might be headed in the wrong way, to help them find Jesus in a world that is very scary. How do I get involved?"

PRAY
for a Good News Club at Capri School in Encinitas, which has never had one. Several parents from the school have expressed interest, including a mother who emailed this week: "I would like to know more about a GNC for Capri. It would be great to have this program at our school." The Lord is stirring hearts -- please pray that He would build the necessary team of committed volunteers.

PRAY for the needs of LR Green School GNC in Escondido sent by leader Teri Chalfant: "Our praise is that we have four volunteers that are committed to GNC. Our prayer requests are that we get at least two more, that we get just the right room to hold our GNC in (we're concerned about size), and that the LORD blesses and guides the work of our hands and our minds." The club is set to start Oct 29.

PRAY for two Oceanside GNCs that need the Lord's gracious intervention if they are to continue this year!

Palmquist

A club began there last season, but for various reasons, the team members were not able to continue. There are two new volunteers interested this year, but a complete team is needed.

McAuliffe

A club has been running there for several years, but now has no team. Pray that the Lord will keep the light of the gospel shining at this school by bringing committed servants to reach the kids who are waiting for the club to start.

PRAY for these FIVE GNCs opening this coming week and the thousands of boys and girls represented:

Live Oak

1. Live Oak School (Fallbrook) starts Wednesday, Sep 30, 1:15-2:30pm

Juniper

2. Juniper School (Escondido) starts Thursday, Oct 1, 1:40-2:40pm

Knob Hill

3. Knob Hill School (San Marcos) starts Thursday, Oct 1, 3:20-4:20pm

El Camino Creek

4. El Camino Creek School (Encinitas district) starts Friday, Oct 2, 12:45-1:50pm

Bear Valley

5. Bear Valley Middle School (Escondido) starts Monday, Oct 5, 3:00-4:00pm

Please take a few moments to uphold the volunteers at each of these schools who are so faithfully helping to meet the needs of the kids week by week. Pray for the Lord's inner strength as they face the enemy's darts and that Jesus would draw them closer and closer to Himself as they serve in His name. Pray for the children who are lost in darkness and drifting further from the truth, that as they hear the living Word of God their hearts would become responsive to God's call to trust in the Savior and that many would find new life in Him. Pray that Christian kids would be and built up in their faith and service for the Lord.

In the fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.   --Mark 10:14-16
