PRAISE
REPORTS
![]()
PRAISE the Lord for an especially
blessed day at the Escondido Street Faire on Sunday the 18th. The
weather was beautiful, the crowds were big, and the children
really wanted to hear about the Lord! Above, kids get help making
their own bracelets with beads of five different colors.
Stringing them on in the right order is important because each
color has its meaning and together they tell God's message.
![]()
Above, volunteer John Nash of Oceanside
explains that the red bead stands for the blood of Jesus which He
shed on the cross to take away our sins. One hundred thirty-eight
heard the Gospel and seventy-five responded to the message. All
the kids got a tract and a Bible on CD to take with them, and sixty-two
signed up to receive free Bible lessons in the mail. Lots of
passersby received Gospel tracts handed out by several of our
volunteers who came by during the day to help out.

PRAISE the Lord for the invitation to be a part of
Missions Sunday at First Baptist Church of Oceanside on Oct.
25th. Above, at morning service CEF Director Robert Burkley
updates the church, a longtime supporter of the ministry, on all
that the Lord has recently been doing in North County.
![]()
Above, at Sunday school hour it's time for the kids to
participate while they learn about the paralyzed man lowered
through the roof, whose sins Jesus forgave and whose body He
healed -- they were really listening!

Pastor Hal Schulz (above) addresses the missions luncheon that
followed the service. Several in the congregation signed up to
receive our Praise & Prayer Bulletin and one (answered
prayer!) voluteered to help at the Palmquist School Good
News Club where we are hoping to complete a team very soon.

PRAISE God for the Carlsbad session of our Teachers Forum
on Monday. Above, three volunteers who all attend church together
serve on two different GNC teams: Tiffany Lien and Jukay Lu (left
and right) are part of the Sage Canyon club in the Del Mar
district, which started on Oct 12. In the middle is Misty
Thompson who will be leading the club at Solana Santa Fe
School in Rancho Santa Fe, scheduled to start Nov 5 (please
pray for helpers and the Lord's direction for this brand new
club!).
![]()
Above at left are Meng-Ping Ku and Anda Yeung, also friends from
church, who use CEF materials in their children's ministry. Anda
has just volunteered to help on the GNC team for McAuliffe School
in Oceanside near where she lives (please pray that the Lord will
bring others for this team!). To the right are Linda Gonzalez,
leader of the new club at Casita Center School in Vista
and Margot Holman, team leader at the Live Oak club in
Fallbrook, now in its second season.
![]()
PRAISE God for Jerry Donohue, Carol Guttman, and Rose
Cannon (above) who came to the Teachers Forum for the first time
on Monday. They are praying and planning for a Good News Club to
reach the hundreds of kids who live at the Valleyview Mobile
Home Park in Fallbrook. Please pray with them as they seek
God's guidance in organizing the club, which they hope to see
underway very soon.

PRAISE the Lord for this report from team leader Holly
Williams about the first meeting on Tuesday of the GNC at Farr
Ave. School in Escondido (above): "Thank you one and all
for your fervent faithful prayers! We were so grateful for how
God answered! I had to ask God to forgive me for being so 'O ye
of little faith'. We had at least 40 children and I think about
10 at least prayed salvation prayers. Also, at the beginning when
the Gospel was explained (using the wordless book) several
indicated they had prayed at their seats to have their sins
forgiven. The classroom teacher is a Christian and she told me
that she would be leaving to join 3 to 5 other Christian teachers
for prayer -- and that they would pray for us too! Praise
the LORD! Not only that, we had 6 ladies from our church praying
for us and my sister also. We are so thankful for each worker who
so willingly did their part to make it -- with God's power --
happen! Please start praying for next Tues -- we are hoping to
have one of our visiting missionaries from our missions
conference speak at GNC. We were happy to see many 'returnees'
from last year at our 1st club today! The girls I dealt with were
so eager and genuine to pray to receive the LORD and crowded up
to me to see the verse I showed them from the Bible: 'I will
never leave thee nor forsake thee'. One little girl hugged me and
thanked me afterwards. There is no other reward here on earth so
sweet! Your prayers mean everything! Philippians 4:4, 6"

PRAISE God for a Christian teacher from Mission Middle
School in Escondido (above) who called this week to say that
she and another teacher at the school would like to start a
"Teen Good News Club" as soon as possible. Many have
been in prayer for a club at this school for a long time! She had
already received a positive response from the principal, and so
the application was submitted and approved within days, and the
club is scheduled to start Nov 4!
PRAYER
NEEDS
![]()
PRAY for a teacher from Twin Oaks School in San Marcos
who stopped by our booth on Sunday at the Escondido Street Faire.
She wants a Good News Club at her school and already knows of
several parents she believes will want to help on the team!
Please pray that the Lord will bring it all together so a club
can start there very soon!
PRAY for clubs that urgently need helpers. Team leaders
Judy Erickson from the Glen View club in Escondido and
Tamara Reed from the Mission Estancia club in the
Encinitas district both request prayer for the Lord to send
laborers!
PRAY for a meeting of parents from Capri School in
Encinitas on Oct 29 to plan for a new Good News Club there! We'll
be there answering questions and helping to get a team organized
for a school that has never before had a club. Please pray for
the Lord's wisdom and guidance.
PRAY for the Festival of Light outreach on Oct 31 at
Carlsbad Community Church where we'll be presenting the Gospel to
neigborhood kids. Each year many boys and girls come to have fun
at this event and also to find out about Jesus! Please pray that
the Lord would use this opportunity to draw kids and their
families to Himself.
PRAY for these THREE Good News Clubs starting
at schools this week:
![]()
La Costa Meadows School (San Marcos
district), starts Monday, Oct 26, 3:15-4:15pm
![]()
LR Green School (Escondido) starts Thursday, Oct 29, 1:45-2:45pm
![]()
Beaumont School (Vista) starts Thursday, Oct 29,
2:35-3:35pm
Please pray that the Lord would bless and strengthen and
reward the teams as they give of their time to reach the
children. Pray that the kids would return from last season and
that lots of new faces would be there, too. Pray that the Lord
would bring kids who haven't heard of the Savior and that they
would meet Him there! Pray that the Word of God would have an
effect in the life of every child who comes.
In the
fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. --Mark 10:14-16
