PRAISE the Lord for bringing 70 kids to the first meeting of
the season at the Rose School Good News Club in Escondido
on Tuesday -- there were LOTS of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders! In
the photo above everyone joins in on the club theme song,
"Good News to All the World". Many boys and girls
responded to the gospel message during the Bible lesson time. A
Christian teacher, Donni Arena, had graciously volunteered use of
her classroom for the club, and after the first meeting she
emailed: "It was a blessing to watch you and your team run
the Good News Club. Thank you for serving our campus with the
love of Christ! It was really neat to see what you guys are
doing." It was such a tight squeeze in her classroom,
though, that we called the school to see if we would be able to
get a larger space. Praise God that they called back on Friday to
say we can move to a vacant room this week! And praise the Lord
for a mother of two kids in the club who sat in and watched.
Afterward she said she'd become familiar with GNC when her kids
attended the one at Lincoln School last season. Now she
would like to volunteer on the Rose team! Please pray that
other parents will come forward so that the Rose GNC can become
self-sustaining.

PRAISE God for all He is doing at the LR Green GNC in
Escondido. Leader Teri Chalfant emails: "We have praises! We
have great teacher and principal support at our school. They have
provided a very accommodating room for us. The students are
enthusiastic about the good news of Jesus Christ. We have parents
who stay and want to listen also. Our team has dedicated their
hearts to serving the LORD through GNC. We
had 25 students at our first club meeting on Oct 29 (photo above)
and 28 for our second meeting. Many asked Jesus to forgive them
of their sins and to be their Lord and Savior. They have good
questions, like, 'What if my mom still stays mad at me when I've
done something wrong?' Our prayer
requests are:
1. That our 5th grade boys and 1st grade students will follow the 5 R's of respect.
2. That our team will always be filled with Christ's Spirit, and in love and patience, with great wisdom and skill, teach and shepherd all the kids that come to GNC."

PRAISE the Lord for a brand new Good News Club held at the
Learning Center at Valley View Mobile Lodge in Fallbrook,
home to hundreds of kids! The club began on Saturday, Nov. 7 and
team leader Carol Guttman (shown above) sent a report that day: "Here's
a picture of our very first meeting. We had 25 kids and about 18
responses to the salvation invitation. Yahoo! They got it too!
Really, really a nice bunch of kids, very polite and attentive. I
think they really loved the meeting, and when I put tracts on the
table they fairly dove at them. They all brought their permission
slips too!" The team hopes to draw all age levels and
"hold back-to-back GNCs #1, #2, and eventually #3 on
Saturday with a break in between each club and pizza for all at
the end of the day. We would inspire the kids to pay attention by
holding periodic competitions between the clubs with prizes for
the winners. We will inspire them to keep and study their Bibles
and notes by offering prizes for the neatest and most complete
GNC notebooks. We will also hold meetings or open houses so the
parents can come and meet us and us meet them. We want to inspire
these children onward to greatness in the Lord, for with God all
things are possible! I received a lot of interest from various
folks who indicated they wanted to help and get involved."
PRAISE God for an email on Wednesday
from Cathy Goldstein, leader of the GNC at James Dukes School
in Ramona, which began on Oct 14: "We had our 4th meeting
today. We have a total enrollment of 30 thus far. We've been
having a great time of fellowship. I'm always encouraged by how
many of the kids enthusiastically return year after
year!"
PRAISE the Lord for an encouraging word
about our weekly Praise & Prayer Bulletin from Terry
McDougall, team member at the Olivenhain Pioneer Elementary
GNC in Carlsbad: "Thanks for these updates. I always read
them and then we pray for them during our OPE Moms In Touch
meeting. These two ministries really complement each other. The
OPE GNC is going strong!" (Terry serves as Coastal North
County Area Coordinator for Moms In Touch, a ministry which
sponsors moms' prayer groups for public schools.)
PRAYER
NEEDS

PRAY for the Felicita Elementary GNC -- team leader
Mary Schuhler emails these requests: "That God would
continue to draw the 4th and 5th graders each week, growing them
deep in the knowledge and love of our wonderful Savior. (We
started with 14 5th graders, but the number has dropped some over
the last 3 weeks.) Not only do they need Him now, but we also
want these kids to move up into middle school wanting to continue
to grow in Him and drawing other kids at Del Dios MIddle School
(where a GNC last year could not get off the ground because so
few kids came)."
PRAY for the Glen View GNC as they welcome guests
on Thursday, Nov. 12. Joe Donato will speak about the
transformation in his life since he trusted Christ and got out of
the Mafia back in the 70s! Joe, now age 80, speaks all around the
world and is author of Tell It to the Mafia. The
"Children in Action" worship team of kids will also be
there to present the gospel through music and drama. Parents have
been invited -- please pray for a big turnout and that the Lord
would use this special program to bring kids and parents to
Himself!
PRAY for these two Good News Clubs starting this week,
both in the Poway district and led by Dee Abell:
Willow Grove starts Tuesday, Nov. 10, 3:20-4:30pm
Sunset Hills starts Friday, Nov. 13, 2:50-4:00pm. This school does not distribute either paper or email flyers to parents, and the principal would not allow handing them out on campus. To get the word out we planned to have several volunteers passing them out on public property in front of the school (the police department has told us this is fine). The principal preferred we did not, anticipating opposition to the club from some parents. But our volunters were there this Friday and, praise God, everything went smoothly and many parents were reached. Please pray that the Lord would protect this club from the attacks of the enemy who does not want parents to learn of the club or the children to hear the Good News.
For both these clubs please pray for open hearts and minds on the part of parents. Pray that many kids will be there on opening day, eager to learn about the Lord. Pray that God would speak to unsaved boys and girls, showing them their need of a Savior, and leading them to faith in Jesus. Pray that believing children will be encouraged in their walk with God and learn specific ways that they can put their faith into practice at school and at home.
In the
fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. --Mark 10:14-16
