TEACHERS FORUM December 5 & 7

14.1C.40pc

Joseph is an example to us all to trust the Lord's promise that "all things work together for good to them that love God" (Rom. 8:28), even when all we can see is trouble! Kids today can learn from the many things that God taught Joseph and find out how they can be overcomers, too!

All Good News Club volunteers should be at our next Teachers Forum to get equipped to bring the story of Joseph to the kids. (For an overview of this series, please click here:
http://cefkids.com/lessons.)

Join us at 9:00am on Dec 5 in Escondido OR Dec 7 in Carlsbad (click for details:

PRAISE REPORTS

PRAISE
the Lord that so many children at GNCs are hiding God's Word in their hearts! Above, the kids flock around to recite their weekly memory verse before the start of club on Tuesday at Rose School in Escondido. Volunteer Charlene Poore-Jones gives a rubber stamp to those who have colored their verse for mounting in their album (below) and another if they can say it by heart. The kids get a prize for each stamp. At the end of the lesson series, those who have learned at least 3 verses get a special award.

PRAISE
God for His work in the lives of kids! Marian Kisling, team leader of the GNC at Richland School in San Marcos (above) sends a thanksgiving praise: "I have to share! A couple weeks ago when one little boy's name was drawn first to receive an award, he chose a Bible. This week we went around the group and had each one of the kids say something that they're thankful for. This boy said, 'I'm so thankful for my new Bible because my whole family is reading it together. I am so thankful for the love that my Good News Club teachers show me.'" Adds Marian, "We all just about started crying, we felt so humbled."

PRAISE
the Lord for word from team member Missy Conway at the Juniper School GNC in Escondido that since the start of the school year 16 boys and girls have professed faith in Christ as their Savior.

PRAISE God that the brand new GNC for Capri School in Encinitas was approved so fast and that everything is set to start Jan.15! Eight enthusiastic parents are on the team!

PRAYER NEEDS

photo - Solana Pacific School 12

PRAY for the GNC at Solana Pacific School (above) as it gets off the ground. There was confusion on opening day on Wednesday -- the school forgot the club was starting that day and didn't have the room open and had also neglected to post the club flyer on the school website Nov. 4 as scheduled! Turnout was low, but the school has sent out a special email to parents directing them to an earlier online posting (
http://www.sbsd.k12.ca.us/SP/Envelope/2009-10/091021/flyers/GoodNewsclub.pdf). Please pray that when the club resumes after Thanksgiving break word will have spread and lots of kids will be there!

PRAY that more kids find out about and start attending the new Solana Santa Fe School GNC. Leader Misty Thompson emails,"I ordered some of those rubber bracelets with 'Good News Club' imprinted on them for the first 20 founding members of our club. We're trying to find some cool ways to 'market' the club through the students and thought this might be a good way. We're also thinking of printing t-shirts that say, 'Follow me...to the Good News Club' for students to wear." Please keep praying that the Lord will help this club to grow.

PRAY that new GNCs could soon get underway to reach more kids in the community of Ramona (above)! There's been a lot of interest and several volunteers have already passed their background screenings for a total of three schools, but there are not yet complete teams for any of them. Terri Nagem, who has bes and recruiting, sends word: "Just want to give you an update. I just spoke with a pastor of a local church and he is going to check out the GNC video and let me know. If you could have people pray for another stirring of hearts and a desire to get God's Word to the children I would appreciate it."

PRAY for these GNCs (among many!) that need volunteers befoeen visiting churchre they can start:

Mission Meadows (Vista). Leader Maureen Slottje asks for prayer for committed team members to be able to continue this club which started last season. Pray that the club could get going soon after the new year.

Mary Fay Pendleton
(Camp Pendleton). Leader Connie Bivens writes, "I am sorry to say without additional volunteer support I will not be able to continue the program at Mary Faye. I am still attempting to secure volunteers and do hope to have a team." Team members Jack and Doris Fitch will be returning and heading up the club if some additional helpers sign on. Please pray!

Roger Rowe (Rancho Santa Fe). A mom at the school, Betsy Heller, is working to recruit and organize a team. Please pray that the Lord would lead her to willing hearts and that a club could start there this school year.

PRAY as announcements go out at two schools where GNCs are scheduled to start in early Dec:

Oak Hill (Escondido). Pray that many of the kids from last season would return. Pray that families whose kids have never attended will see the flyers and want to be part of it! Pray for the Lord's strength and guidance as leader Cricket Carlson and her team plan and organize.

Mission Middle
(Escondido). The start of this club has been postponed until Dec 2. Please pray for team members (and teachers at the school!) Linda Nelson and Steve Bruecker as they get flyers out and prepare to reach these kids at such a critical stage in their lives with the truth of God's Word!

In the fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.   --Mark 10:14-16
