TEACHERS FORUM this week! - December 5 & 7



Joseph's brothers had greatly wronged him, but his grace and forgiveness towards them serves as a picture of God's grace and forgiveness towards us, even though we have sinned so greatly against Him.

At our upcoming Teachers Forum on the life of Joseph, we'll be discovering how to draw these deep truths of the Gospel message out of this familiar story in a way that kids can relate to. PRAISE REPORT

PRAISE the Lord for the dedication of our hundreds of volunteers and for each new one! An email arrived this week from a woman who learned about GNCs from a church's website: "My husband and I recently moved to San Diego, and I have been looking for a ministry to serve with. I am very interested in the program and was wondering what elementary schools have Good News programs and if there is a need for more volunteers. If so, I would love to hear more about the ministry, and if there are any schools in Poway or nearby." Please pray for God's guidance as this servant of the Lord visits a club and seeks the right place to minister to the kids. Pray that other Christians who are seeking a place to serve will learn about the opportunity to reach the schools through GNCs!

PRAYER NEEDS

PRAY for two Poway district schools where there are new GNCs under development:

A dad from Del Sur School is working to recruit volunteers for a club at a school which has never had one. He is hoping to see the club underway very soon. As he tells other Christian parents at the school and friends at church about the opportunity, please pray that team members would sign on to reach these kids for the Lord. Pray that a Christian teacher at the school could be found who would volunteer use of her room for the club.

A mom at Turtleback School is leading the way for a new club. Already a volunteer from her church's kids' ministry has signed on to help. Please pray as they spread the word and work to enlist others for the team. Pray that Christian parents will respond to the call for helpers. Pray that the principal will have a favorable attitude and that the club would be able to start soon after the new year.

PRAY about a situation that has come up regarding the GNC at Bonsall Elementary School (above), a club that began last season and is scheduled to start again Jan 14. The district has informed us that a fee of $20/hour will be imposed for use of the room at the adjacent community center which was free to us last season. We will be submitting a request for a waiver of the fee to the school board which meets Dec 10. (All local school districts classify us as a "free use group" under the CA Education Code.) Please pray that our request will be granted and in time for the club to start on schedule.

PRAY for two Good News Clubs, old and new, starting this Wednesday in Escondido:

Our newest club, at Mission Middle School, will be launched this Wednesday, 3:00-4:00pm in the classroom of teacher Linda Nelson. Please be in prayer that kids will hear about the club and respond by showing up! Pray as teacher Steve Bruecker prepares to share a series of Bible lessons for teens called "The World" that starts by helping kids understand that God is their Creator and has a purpose for their lives. Please pray that through this club many young lives will be turned around and set on a course of lifelong devotion to the Lord! 

Our oldest after-school GNC, at Oak Hill School, starts Wednesday, 2:30-3:30pm. This is the ninth season for the club, sponsored by Cornerstone Church. The club meets at the front of the campus in the Multi-Purpose Room (above), and so is highly visible. Please pray that many kids will be there opening day and that the club would continue to grow week by week. Please pray for the power of the Holy Spirit as the volunteers teach God's Word and that kids who have never met the Savior will believe and be saved! Pray for steady growth in Christ for every believing boy and girl.
