PRAISE REPORTS



PRAISE the Lord for thirteen faithful Good News Club volunteers who braved the heavy California dew to come to our Teachers Forum on Monday in Carlsbad.Clubs in Vista, Carmel Valley, Oceanside, Ramona, Rancho Penasquitos, Fallbrook, and Ramona were represented, including three that are still in development. We were studying Joseph and learning how to communicate to kids the great truths that his life illustrates and that all believers, young and old, need to live out: "And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you" (Eph. 4:32). Those who didn't make it missed a great time of fellowship and growth!  



PRAISE the Lord that kids at Good News Club are learning from God's Word and having lots of fun doing it! Above, volunteers Susie Covert and Leroy Wentz lead a Bible lesson review game called "ZONK" at the Rose School GNC in Escondido on Tuesday. The lesson was all about the baptism and temptation of Jesus, with the memory verse James 4:7: "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." This boy answered a question correctly and gets to draw points for his team out of a pouch -- and keep going as long as he wants. BUT if he draws a "ZONK" he loses all points for that turn! This was the last question and he was racking up a big total for his team -- but he picked once too often and got ZONKED -- the girls won! 



PRAISE God that our application for a Good News Club at Rock Springs School in Escondido sailed through, and that the club is all set to go January 12 in the big multi-purpose room!

PRAYER NEEDS



PRAY again about the resistance we've met regarding the GNC for Turtleback School in the Poway district (above). After an initial rejection of our application by the school, the district intervened, but our first choice of the day of the week for the club, Thursdays, was turned down, and in addition we were told that the school could restrict our start time to after 4pm -- an hour and a half after school dismisses! All our clubs in the Poway district have always been able to meet immediately after school. We have resubmitted for Tuesdays right after school. Please pray that this will be approved this week so that the club can start as hoped for on Jan. 12.



PRAY for the many schools in North County without Good News Clubs. Pray that the Lord would stir hearts for schools like Hannalei Elementary in Vista (above) with 600 boys and girls. Pray that Christian parents, nearby churches, and others who see the great need will learn of the opportunity to reach the kids and step forward to help! If you know of those who might be interested in reaching a particular school, please spread the word about GNCs.
