March 6 Breakfast with Bob Vernon
"Why Reaching Children Is So Strategic"

Bob Vernon

As a child Bob was part of a neighborhood Good News Club®:
"One day, my CEF teacher asked me if I had received Jesus Christ as my personal Savior.
I told her I wanted to take that step. She prayed with me as I...
began my personal relationship with Him.
That personal relationship with God has been the most important part of my life."

Bob is retired LA Assistant Chief of Police and founder of Pointman Leadership Institute,
engaged in leadership development training around the world
(pliglobal.com).

He's a popular and highly respected speaker in the Christian community.

Join us for "Breakfast with Bob Vernon" and bring friends
who need to learn about Good News Clubs in the public schools!

PRAISE REPORTS

Bonsall Elementary

PRAISE
God for the first meeting of the season on Thursday of our Good News Club at Bonsall Elementary School (above). Several parents who received the announcements called to find out more about the club, including one excited mom who said she and her daughter were thrilled to hear about the club coming to their school. They are new to the area, and her daughter had been asking when she could go to a Bible class again ever since she attended a VBS in the summer. There were 22 boys and girls the first day!

Susan Curo

PRAISE
the Lord for a report from Tribal Ministries leader Susan Curo (above) about the first meeting of the new GNC
on Tuesday: "We had such a good time at our Tribal Good News Club on the La Jolla Reservation. The volunteers were excited, and they all connected with our tribal kids so well. I had decided to use our flocked figures for the Bible lessons, and after our GNC one of the volunteers said at first she didn't think the figures would hold the children's attention because it was an old fashioned form of teaching -- but to our tribal kids it was all brand new. They ALL seemed to enjoy the lesson, from the small kids to the older children. I was so blessed by God, to see Him work in their little hearts and the hearts of our volunteers."

Susan shares this prayer request: "Rincon Reservation is next, we have had some trouble getting the permission slips signed by the parents and returned to us. So please pray for this Thursday, that there would be many children ready to learn about our Lord Jesus. Also for our tribal GNC volunteers, that they will realize what a blessing they are, teaching the future Christian leaders of our Tribes." Rock Springs GNC 2010.01.26

PRAISE
the Lord that kids at the Rock Springs School
GNC in Escondido are learning their weekly memory verses! Above, they really want to participate as they learn 1 John 4:14: "The Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world." The kids work on the verse during the week and get a reward if they can come back the next week and say it before club. This Tuesday all the kids also received a complete kids' Bible on CD-ROM (View it on our website: http://cefkids.com/bibleadventures/1_START.htm or download it and burn copies: http://cefkids.com/biblecd1/.)

PRAISE the Lord for answers to prayer! Team leader Tamara Reed reports that He has brought the team members needed to be able to start the second session of our GNC at Mission Estancia School (Encinitas district) on Feb 9. The flyers have already been approved and posted on the school website:

PRAISE
the Lord for an encouraging word from leader Linda Nelson at our "Teen GNC" at Mission Middle School in Escondido: "We are growing, however slowly, we are growing" (4 new kids in January!).

Hidden Valley Middle School

PRAISE
God for interest on the part of three staff members in starting a "Teen GNC" at Hidden Valley Middle School in Escondido (above). They heard about the club at Mission Middle from teacher Steve Bruecker and want one at their school, too! Please pray that the Lord would bring this to pass!

PRAYER NEEDS

Ramona Community School

PRAY
for our brand new GNC starting Wednesday (12:15-1:15pm) at Ramona Community School (above). Please pray for the team led by Kim Vermeulen as they get ready for opening day. Pray that parents at the school will be open to letting their children attend, especially those from non-Christian backgrounds. Pray that lots of Christian kids will come and bring along their friends who don't know the Lord. Pray that the Holy Spirit will open the understanding of the boys and girls to the truth of God's Word and lead hearts to trust in Jesus! Pray that this club would be a light to the entire community.

PRAY for Good News Clubs that are losing kids because of competing after-school requirements. Judy Erickson, leader of the Glen View School club in Escondido, emails: "The office at Glen View called me and e-mailed a list of students who cannot come to GNC anymore, since they have to go to "Any Time School" to bring up their California state test scores. PLEASE pray about this, that the children will do well enough to be allowed to attend GNC! Also that God gives us two more workers." Team member Anna Vargas adds, "Average attendance is 24 for Jan. We need more volunteers and hopefully children will return!"

PRAY
for the URGENT need for volunteers on the team at our new club at Turtleback School in the Poway district. Please ask that the Lord would guide those who are able to help to team leader Kelly DeHaan's attention.

In the fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.   --Mark 10:14-16
