The Place to Be March 6
Breakfast with Bob Vernon
Would you like to see the Gospel at every school?
Good News Club in N County school

In 2001 the Lord marvelously opened America's public schools to
on-campus,
after-school Good News Clubs® through a ruling of the US Supreme Court.

Thousands of clubs
have opened across the country since then.
But kids at
most schools are still waiting.

Bob Vernon, retired
LAPD Assistant Chief, is coming to N County to share
how he met the Lord as a boy at a GNC and to inform, encourage, and inspire
believers to help reach the kids while we can.

Come and be nourished in body and spirit
!

PRAISE REPORTS

Felicita 2010.02.09

PRAISE God for blessings reported by GNC leader Mary Schuhler: "The Felicita GNC staff wants to praise our good Lord for the new influx of children! At the last teachers' training, Robert encouraged us to send out flyers again to get the word out. Attendance was dropping for multiple reasons, but after the flyers went out the attendance has jumped by 15-20 children! God has given us a fabulous club staff this year and I wanted Him to bring us the kids to match the supply of willing workers. He did! Pictured are 3 of our new kids showing off the gospel bracelets they made at our Valentines Party. Pray that the children would be filled with joy and truth at learning God's Word. Please pray that they would understand salvation by grace alone and not by works. Thanks!"

Farr Ave. GNC team 2010.02.09

PRAISE
the Lord for the fellowship of teamwork in His name! The volunteers at the Farr Ave. School club in Escondido (above) are all part of Fundamental Baptist Church, located right around the corner. Back row from left: Joanna Sun, Linda Garner, Holly Williams, Rachael Hildebrant, Liz Ortiz, Jessica Sun, and Carol Williams. In front is one club member who showed her appreciation to the volunteers with the words "God Loves U" presented on a handcrafted cross.

Spanish New Testament

PRAISE
the Lord for His amazing grace at the Casita School GNC (Vista district). Team leader Linda Gonzalez writes, "The children are learning the books of the New Testament and last week each child received one. They were so excited. We've been having Bible drills so they can learn how to handle God's Word and find Bible passages on their own. At the end of the story and during counseling we were going over the steps of salvation.  They were looking up Acts 16:31. The father of one little girl came in and took the NT from her hand and read out loud 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved and your house.' He stumbled over a couple of words and I asked if he wanted a Spanish New Testament. He said, 'Yes'. God had just provided some that day! After showing him where the plan of salvation is outlined, he happily took the New Testament. Please pray that God's Word will reveal the Lord Jesus to him also. God is so awesome.
"

CCC

PRAISE the Lord for the opportunity to host an information table at the Carlsbad Community Church missions dinner on Friday (above). We connected with a lot of old and new friends at the church, a longtime supporter of the work of CEF in North County. And we met a mom who wants to start a brand new GNC at Nichols School in Oceanside (see prayer need below)!

PRAISE the Lord for good reports that keep coming from Maureen Slottje, team leader at Mission Meadows GNC in Vista. 2/9: "We had 52 in club, with 9 new registered, totalling 64 so far, and 7 responded to the gospel. What is so encouraging is there are 18 4th and 5th graders who are faithfully coming and adding to their number...and responding to the gospel." 2/10: "More good news...6 more responded today; 48 in attendance and 3 new additions."

Central School

PRAISE God that Good News Club is returning to Escondido's oldest elementary school, Central (above), on March 2! For three years there has been no club there because we haven't had a team. On Friday we met with the principal who graciously offered us our choice of two nice unoccupied rooms -- the club won't have to meet in a crowded classroom anymore!

PRAISE the Lord for bringing new kids to club and for new volunteers to meet the need. Jessica Huebner at the Hope School GNC in Carlsbad emails a brief report that sums it up: "Praise report: new clubbers, 2 new leaders! Prayer request: new children!"

PRAYER NEEDS

Lake School

PRAY for a brand-new Good News Club in the application stage at Lake School in Oceanside (Vista district). The team will be led by Marian Kisling, our leader at Richland School in SM, and will include several volunteers who have been waiting for a leader to be able to start an Oceanside club. Please be in prayer for this team, several of whom have never done a GNC before, and pray also that the club would get quick approval so it can start in early March.

Nichols School

PRAY for a mother from Nichols School in Oceanside who wants to see a GNC there. She is brand new to the ministry and is just starting to work on gathering a team. Pray that God will encourage and guide her and that He will lead others to volunteer to begin reaching the 700 kids at this school this season.

PRAY
for the needs of two Escondido GNCs, sent by leader Judy Erickson: "Please ask people to pray: 1. Bear Valley Middle School club to get a BV teacher or two on our team; for all the Christian teachers to distribute flyers and verbally promote for us; a lot more kids to attend. 2. Glen View club -- for us to distribute more flyers, and more new kids to attend; drop-outs to return to us. Praise for a new volunteer -- Maxine Cantu!
"

PRAY that our club at Sunset Hills School (Poway district), scheduled to end for the season in late March, will be able to continue. Leader Dee Abell, who contacted the pastor of a small new congregation that meets at the church to let him know about opportunity, writes: "I emailed him the 'Gospel in the Public Schools' link. He said he was excited about it, and never heard about it, nor my club at the school. I spoke to him about how the clubs are a great way to reach the community and help build churches. He said they have only been meeting since Oct. 09. I am going to his church tomorrow -- I will be taking GNC flyers, Bibles on CD, and flyers about GNC's."

In the fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.   --Mark 10:14-16
