TEACHERS FORUM March 13 & 15

Nicodemus

When Nicodemus came to Him by night, Jesus said, "You must be born again." Nicodemus didn't understand at first, so Jesus went on to patiently explain God's wondrous way to new life: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

What could be more important than learning how to bring this message to children today in a way that they can understand? We'll be doing just that at our final sessions of the season as we look into the six lessons of our series Life of Christ, part 2. If you're a Good News Club volunteer (or considering it), please mark your calendar for March 13 in Escondido or March 15 in Carlsbad, 9:00-11:30am. For details:

PRAISE REPORTS

Bernardo GNC, Feb 2010

PRAISE the Lord for an update from team member Courtney Wilson about Good News Club at Bernardo School in Escondido (photo above): "Praises for the way God is blessing our club! We have a wonderful group of enthusiastic kids. They are hearing about the life of Jesus, asking lots of questions, and working hard on their weekly memory verses. We have been blessed with having Jane Garcia, a visiting grandmother of one of our kids, helping us each week while she is here -- Jane works in a GNC in Oregon!  We have been able to distribute the CEF 'Bible Adventures' CD-ROM to all our kids, thanks to Doug Drake of Maranatha Chapel children’s ministry and GNC volunteer Dee Abell. We pray for continued enthusiasm and club growth." In the photo above, team member Joanne Sigurdsson, who is on staff at Bernardo and also leads our club at N. Broadway School, teaches the group.

Barnett Elementary School

PRAISE
God for His blessings at the first meeting on Tuesday of the brand new GNC at Barnett School in Ramona (above). Team leader Jen Doyle phoned in the news: "Everything went great! We had 21 kids and two new volunteers (grandparents!). The kids had a great time -- I met one of the moms and a couple of girls later in the week and they said, 'We had a wonderful time, thank you so much for starting the club, and we're looking forward to next week!'"

RockSprings 2010.02.23 - thank you card

PRAISE the Lord for the thankful hearts of children! One of our first graders surprised and blessed the whole team by presenting them with a hand drawn card at the beginning of GNC on Tuesday at Rock Springs School in Escondido.

PRAYER NEEDS

Ramona Elementary

PRAY
for the new Good News Club in process at Ramona Elementary School (above). After more than a year of prayer (and answers to prayer!), a team is ready to go. This week we submitted the application for use of facilities, but were denied by the school. Please pray that our appeal of the denial to the district level will be successful and that the club will be able to start in March.

Lake School, satellite view

PRAY
about the other recent denial of our application at Lake School in the Vista district (above). The team of volunteers wants to pursue the club at Lake rather than moving to another school with immediate access. We have submitted an appeal to the district and are supposed to hear something on Monday. Please be in prayer that this will be resolved quickly in our (and the kids'!) favor and that the club would be assigned a good room.

PRAY for our GNC starting this Tuesday, March 2, at Central School in Escondido (above). Pray that many of the 700 kids at this school will be there on opening day! Pray that they'll come with minds and hearts ready to listen and learn from the Lord as His Word is taught. Pray that boys and girls will come to Him in faith, and that Christian kids will learn things that will help them follow Him more closely. Please ask the Lord to bring parents and new volunteers to join the team so that this club can become established and run a full season next school year.

In the fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.   --Mark 10:14-16
