PRAISE
REPORTS

PRAISE the Lord for still ANOTHER new Good News Club
approved in whirlwind fashion -- this one at Oak Valley Middle
School (above) in the Poway district! Kelly DeHaan, who
leads our new club at Turtleback Elementary, took over the
task of trying to recruit a team for Del Sur Elementary,
where there had been some interest, but a team of volunteers
never worked out. Since she has a child enrolled at Oak Valley,
she asked on Monday morning if it would be possible to start a
club there instead. We submitted the application that day, got
the go-ahead from the principal within hours, and received final
district approval on Thursday! Kelly has brought together a team,
including the Jr. High leader from her church, and now our third
"Teen GNC™" (and 53rd school club of the season)
is scheduled to meet on Fridays starting April 23 in the
highly-visible Lunch Court. Please be in prayer as the team
prepares and as they seek creative ways to get the word out to
the 900 kids at a school which does not distribute paper flyers
to all students.

PRAISE the Lord for some happy messages from
the team at the Sage Canyon GNC (Del Mar district),
reporting on their club this past Monday (photos above and
below): Mary Beth Shubat, "Here are some photos from the
Good News Club Easter party today. Tip your Easter bonnet to
Jukay and Tiffany for such great faith in the Lord." Jukay
Lu, "We had 26 kids (including 9 brand new!) show up to
participate..." Tiffany Lien, "We had a great,
fun-filled party on Monday! A huge shout out to all the students
who brought your friends! We packed out the classroom! The
message from our guest speaker, Horizon Club 56 Pastor Michael
Williams (photos below), was wonderful, and the the egg hunt was
a huge success!"

PRAISE the Lord for answering so many prayers that
approval would be granted for our new club at Twin Oaks School
in San Marcos (above) -- it came through on Wednesday! We were
assigned to the music room, and the club is now scheduled to
start April 30. Please keep praying for the team, led by Karen
Ives, who is a teacher at the school, and for the parent
volunteers who are new to GNC.

PRAISE God that kids at the El
Camino Creek GNC (Encinitas district) are learning to serve
others in so many different ways. Susan Daughters writes,
"We were able to complete 5 service projects to bless others
in need. We did the pillow cases for the homeless, collected
canned goods for military veterans, put together treats for the
children that visit a Christian medical clinic in Sudan, made
cards for workers of Compassion Int'l to encourage them as they
serve in Haiti (photo above), and put together lunch bags to hand
out your car window to the homeless, which included Bibles!
Prayer request: We need more workers, so we can continue this
amazing club."
PRAISE the Lord for lots of encouraging
reports pouring in from GNCs all over:
CAPRI (Encinitas), Michelle Vick, "We are still
growing, which is awesome to see. We are averaging 50ish kids a
week."
RAMONA COMMUNITY, Kim Vermeulen, "The kids are very enthusiastic
and love to participate!"
MISSION MEADOWS (Vista district), Maureen Slottje, "We had a
record 56 attend our last meeting (March 24th) for the Easter
party and
acting out the story."
LR GREEN (Escondido), Nancy Trout, "We have finished
the year! We ended with 'Joseph' and the children loved hearing
the story. We consistently had about 18 to 20 children through
the year. They said they were all coming back in the fall.
Yay!"
REIDY CREEK (Escondido), Nancee Hanson, "Thanks to
Westminster Presbyterian and Emmanuel Faith Church, we have been
able to give Bibles to all our kids who didnt have ones of
their own. Last year, a little girl was removed from our club by
her mother because of some miscommunication. Her mother brought
her back to club last time we met, and it looks like she will be
back with us for the rest of the year. We had a great Easter
celebration with crafts, games, stories, and songs to share the
wonderful message. More and more kids are memorizing their
verses. Pray for more helpers to listen to verses at the start of
club."
WILLOW GROVE (Poway district), Dee Abell, "I had the kids
do a letter on what they liked most about the club and I got the
cutest drawings and words from them. I will send copies -- I
don't really want to give them up, they are so precious."

TRAINING APRIL 10
PRAY for our GNC training session on
April 10. Because the Lord has blessed us with 10 new clubs
starting in April, we're holding a special orientation class for
all the new volunteers. Please pray that lots of them will be
able to make it and that the Lord would use this time to
encourage and equip them for service in His name. The session
will take place Saturday, April 10, 9:00-11:00am at Emmanuel
Faith Church, Bldg 11-1, 639 E. 17th Ave., Escondido 92025. Click
here for directions: http://cefkids.com/TeachersForumMaps
PRAY for our upcoming presentation on after-school GNCs at
Calvary Chapel Escondido on April 11. Please pray that the Lord
would make it a blessing and encouragement to everyone. Pray that
believers would become informed about the opportunity we have to
reach the kids, and that they'd want to be a part of it!
In the fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. --Mark 10:14-16
