PRAISE
REPORTS
![]()
PRAISE the Lord that more public school
teachers are becoming Good News Club leaders right at their own
schools, often in their own classrooms! Two of our clubs that are
starting this month are led by teachers, Olive School in
Vista, starting this Wednesday (see "prayer needs"
below), and Twin Oaks School in San Marcos, starting next
week. Above, teachers Steve Bruecker and Linda Nelson have been
leading the Teen Good News Club at Mission Middle School
in Escondido since December. Linda sends an update: "It is a
blessing to see the consistency of the few students we have and
the incredible questions they want answered. Both Steve and I are
having a wonderful time reaching these precious children for
Jesus." Her concise answer when asked if she has a prayer
request to share: "Increase!"

PRAISE
God that Good News Clubs that are new this season are getting
firmly established! The club at Barnett School in Ramona (above),
which started in February, is finishing up its first lesson
series, "Life of Christ, part 1" and plans to keep
going on to six more weeks with "Life of Christ, part
2". Leader Jennifer Doyle emails: "We will be
continuing the club at Barnett for another session, as everyone
seems very pleased and we have enough volunteers, with one more
on the way. We have on average 25-30 kids coming each week."
PRAYER
NEEDS
PRAY for our SEVEN Good News Clubs starting
this week! If possible, be in prayer while these clubs are
meeting. For all of them, please pray that the Lord would bring
lots of kids to hear His Word, and that His Spirit be at work
"to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to
light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive
forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are
sanctified by faith in Me" (Acts 26:18). The schools are:

1. Hanson (Ramona), starts Monday, April 19, 3:15-4:15pm.
This is our fourth club this season in Ramona! Pray that the Lord
would bless and unify and empower the small team of largely new
volunteers as they bring the light of the gospel to Hanson.

2. Nichols (Oceanside), starts Tuesday, April 20, 3:45-4:45pm.
Please pray for the eight volunteers on the team, who are all new
to GNC, as they make final preparations to minister to the kids.
This team came as a group to our special training session, and
they are eager to reach this school for Jesus!

3. Lake (Oceanside, Vista district), starts Wednesday,
April 21, 2:00-3:00pm. Pray about the restrictions that the
school has put on the club. We requested the largest room
available, but have been assigned a classroom that the school is
limiting to 25 children maximum. Pray that if more children than
that show up the school will reassign us to a larger space. Pray
for good relations with the teacher who has volunteered her room
and with the school administration and that our club will be seen
as something really positive for the kids!

4. Olive (Vista), Wednesday, starts April 21, 3:00-4:00pm.
Teacher April Sparks will be leading this club in her own
classroom. From 2:00-3:00 she will conduct a homework help
session (while she is still officially on duty), followed by GNC
from 3:00-4:00. Please pray that this unique arrangement will
appeal to parents and that lots of kids will be there!

5. Orange Glen (Escondido), starts Thursday, April 22,
1:25-2:25pm. Pray for this small team of four as they bring GNC
back to a school that has gone several years without one. Pray
that one or two more helpers will join the team. We now have use
of the big Multi-Purpose Room, so please ask the Lord to bring
the kids to fill it, but also to help the kids to be cooperative
and attentive!

6. Lincoln (Escondido), starts Thursday, April 22,
1:40-2:40pm. Please pray for a homeschool mom who will not be
able to lead the club after suffering a stroke, and pray for her
family as well. Praise the Lord for a new volunteer who was
willing to go where needed and will be serving on the team at
Lincoln. Please pray that the Lord will continue to use this
club, which has reached so many kids over the last few seasons,
to glorify His name!

7. Oak Valley Middle
(Poway district), starts Friday, April 23, 3:15-4:15pm. Pray for
a good turnout for this third Teen Good News Club of the season.
Reaching middle schoolers is a special challenge, so please pray
that the visible location of the club at the outdoor lunch court
will draw the interest of kids and that many will want to check
it out! Pray that the message will go out in God's power and that
lives will be changed at Oak Valley.
In the fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. --Mark 10:14-16
