PRAISE REPORTS

PRAISE
the Lord for all His blessings at our final batch of three elementary Good News Clubs that got underway this week:

Twin Oaks GNC 2010.04.30

TWIN OAKS (San Marcos) on Friday:
Karen Ives (above), a teacher at Twin Oaks who leads the team, welcomes the kids and goes over "Our Rules" on opening day. She writes, "We had a great GNC™ yesterday! There were 26 children and 12 volunteers. Many parents stayed and watched what was going on. The Bible lesson went a bit long (we need to work on timing) but the children stayed attentive and really seemed to enjoy everything. Being at the training last month was invaluable. We used many of those ideas. It would be helpful to have some ideas on how to talk with the parents that hang around. I didn't have much time to talk with parents, but that is certainly an outreach as well.":

This club is blessed with a BIG team of volunteers, parents at the school as well as several members of The Oaks Christian Church right around the corner, including Amy Ketchum and Sue Gertner who shot the photos.Above, Rob Campbell uses a globe to focus attention and make a point to the kids. He says the Good News Club is an answer to the prayers of his church for an outreach to the community.

Twin Oaks GNC 2010.04.30

Bill and Genny Weese (above and below) have children at Twin Oaks and have long been involved in kids' ministry -- Genny currently serves as children's director at The Oaks. She's showing the kids the albums they'll be collecting their weekly memory verses in.

Above, Karen leads the whole gathering in prayer. She comments, "We are rotating jobs around to see what people feel most comfortable doing, although I can't get many takers to lead singing! Luckily, being in the classroom so many years, I know that kids don't care if my voice isn't all that great! Can't wait for next Friday, and we're praying to double our numbers!"

Stone Ranch School

STONE RANCH (Poway district) on Wednesday (photo above):
Team leader Coach Brooks Barnhard reports, "It went really well. There are some great moms with an awesome heart for Christ who are involved. I'm going to count the enrollment forms tomorrow, but I think there were 41 kids."

Pioneer GNC 2010.04.27

PIONEER (Escondido) on Tuesday:
We were back for our third season at Pioneer, and 32 boys and girls were there to greet us! Above, the kids are concentrating hard as team members Charlene Poore-Jones, Susie Covert, Mary Schrieks, and Leroy Wentz lead the Bible lesson review game. Mary, a brand new volunteer at our Lincoln School club which started last week, also came to help out the first day at Pioneer.

Mission Meadows 2010.03.24

PRAISE God for our many GNCs that have been running faithfully week by week throughout the school year, helping believers new and old to keep growing steadily in their faith. Bible teacher Jeanelle Higgins of the Mission Meadows club in the Vista district sends some photos from recent meetings this spring. Balloons are always exciting, and Cindy Havre and Debbie Christian (above) are dividing the group into teams for a fun game.

Mission Meadows 2010.03.24

Jeanelle emails, "After the game, we roleplayed the week of events before the Resurrection. All of the children had a part to play from Jesus's entry into Jerusalem, the arrest and trial, the crucifixion and the empty tomb. I read from the Bible and each team member led their group while the other children listened." Above, a cake with the empty tomb was part of the celebration. Below, children working at the tables are gluing memory verses into their albums.

Mission Meadows 2010.04.14

PRAISE the Lord for an answer to last week's prayer request for an urgently needed helper at the Glen View School GNC! Kathleen Gove, who attended our breakfast in March, contacted us to say she'd like to volunteer, mailed in her screening forms, and is all set to go!

PRAYER NEEDS

Oak Valley Middle School

PRAY
for our final club of the school year, a "Teen GNC" at Oak Valley Middle School (Poway district) starting Friday, May 7. This is the club that had to delay its start date because of confusion over early dismissal the past two Fridays due to testing. Please pray that kids will be curious and want to check out what's happening at the outdoor lunch court where the club will take place. Pray for the volunteers led by Kelly DeHaan, a mom at the school, as they reach out with God's love and truth, and pray that young hearts will respond!

PRAY for the many GNC kids who have recently received Bibles or Bibles on CD, as well as Mailbox Club lessons and Wonder Devotional Books. Pray that the Lord would help them to get into the practice of spending some time in His Word each day and that they would look to the Holy Spirit to help them to understand and live out what they are learning.

In the fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.   --Mark 10:14-16
