PRAISE
REPORTS
Team member Diana Macias gets a good
response from the group at the Nichols School GNC on May
4.
PRAISE the Lord for all the girls and boys at the big new GNCTM at Nichols
School in Oceanside, and for their parents too! This week a
mom whose kids are coming and who has visited the club sent a
note of gratitude to the volunteers: "On behalf of our
family we would like to thank you so much for all your hard work
in sharing the gospel here at our school, as well as those in
schools all around SD County. It is one thing to go to church and
teach Sunday school, which is great, but to put yourself out
there in the dark public school and share the love of our Lord is
an entirely different ballgame. My hat is OFF to you and I stand
as a mom and cheer you on to fight the good fight and strengthen
the hearts of the children that already know our Lord and win the
hearts of those that do not. What a great opportunity for the
children that are believers to realize they do not stand alone!
How wonderful to stand back and watch and pray as God is using
you in such a mighty way! God bless you as you serve our Lord --
thank you for letting your light shine! --In His most wonderful
love, Diane Allen." Team leader Susana Avendaño adds this
prayer request: "The kids want for you to pray for their
families."
PRAISE God for twenty new kids who enrolled on
Tuesday, the second week of our GNC at Pioneer School in
Escondido (above). The only problem was not everyone could fit in
the picture, we had to set up extra chairs, and we almost ran out
of cookies!
PRAISE the Lord for our first GNC at a charter school, Ramona
Community School -- the club has been running since February.
Above, leader Kim Vermeulen teaches the Bible lesson this past
Wednesday, all about blind Bartimeaus receiving his sight from
Jesus. She is assisted by team member Gia Taber.
Above, Gia leads the fun game while two boys serve as willing
targets. Below, team member Erich Benndorff shares a story about
Christian living. Kim remarks, "All of the kids have
participated wonderfully!"
The Farr team: Joanna Sun,
Linda Garner, Holly Williams, Rachael Hildebrant, Liz Ortiz,
Jessica Sun, and Carol Williams
PRAISE
the Lord for a blessed final day of the season at the Farr Ave.
School GNC in Escondido on May 4. Leader Holly Williams writes,
"Thank you all so very much for all your faithful prayers
and support! We had 29 kids on Tuesday! We finished with our last
lesson on Joseph and went over a tract with each child -- they
listened well! We gave out CDs with Bible activities and the
Bible in English and Spanish. To the 5th graders (since they
won't be here next year) we gave out their name with its
Christian meaning and a verse to go with it and The Jesus
Video for Children to the kids who attended the most. We gave
out many Bibles throughout the year as well. Please pray for each
one of these items, that they will continue to have lasting
results on the kids and in their families. I have a record of 36
kids that prayed to be saved this school year -- praise the
Lord!"
"You
must be born again." John 3:7
PRAISE the Lord for
working in His wondrous ways! Jukay Lu, leader of our Sage
Canyon School GNC, was helping at a fundraiser at her church.
The leftover books were offered for use at her GNC, and she took
all the remaining copies of one booklet. Jukay relates, "It
happened to be the exact number of the children attending GNC
today and perfectly fit my lesson on John 3, Nicodemus and Jesus.
It was not an easy lesson to teach to those kids (most of the
them are unchurched). But the Lord used those booklets to draw
their attention and the result of it -- a little 8-year-old girl
accepted Jesus into her heart right after the club! Oh, how He
loves us -- and goes after one lost sheep!"
PRAISE God for the latest good news from the La Jolla
Indian Reservation (above). Tribal Ministry leader Susan Curo
reports: "It has been so neat to be a part our tribal clubs
again. The kids are few but faithful and as I said before, I
believe these kids will be our Christian tribal leaders some day,
and I am so thankful to the Lord for his faithfulness. Our
volunteers have been such a blessing, always ready to help
wherever needed and ALWAYS dependable. We were able to start a
Teen Good News Club which will continue on, even when our regular
GNC ends. Also, the month of April was the first time we had a
club at a Sunday school class on the Barona Reservation. Now we
will start gearing up for our summer activities! Please continue
to pray for the other reservations, that we will be able to go
into the surrounding tribes with the gospel, Thank you Brothers
and Sisters! --Love, Susan Curo."
PRAISE the Lord for three quick reports this week from GNC
leaders:
Jessica Huebner (Hope School, Carlsbad): "Praise for
such faithful and dedicated volunteers! Praise for new kids from
after-school care program. Pray for spiritual growth for our kids
over the summer!"
Brooks Barnhard (Stone Ranch School, Poway district):
"42 kids showed up to the first class. Pray for kids'
hearts, leaders' hearts for Jesus."
Carrie Patch (Ada Harris School, Cardiff): "Our
children are growing stronger in the Lord. They are doing great
each week at memorizing Scripture!"
PRAYER
NEEDS
PRAY for our outreach at the Escondido Street Faire on
Sunday, May 16. We'll be sharing the message of salvation with
kids and parents in our booth (#572) on Grand Ave (S. side
between Orange and Broadway) from 10am to 6pm. Please pray for
good weather, big crowds, and that the Lord would open many
hearts, young and old, to His truth.
PRAY for a positive response as leader Kelly DeHaan goes
to the Oak Valley Middle School campus this week to pass
out flyers directly to kids and parents. No one came to the first
meeting of the "Teen GNC" this past Friday! Poor
response has been typical of every middle school club we have
attempted. Please ask the Lord to bring the kids!
In the fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. --Mark 10:14-16
