PRAISE
REPORTS
PRAISE the Lord for a good start this weekend to our annual
outreach at the San Diego County Fair. Attendance took off on
Saturday as the sun came out and drew lots of families to the
kids' area where the CEF Story Castle beckons (above). On the
cool and breezy first shift of opening day on Friday, North
County volunteer Marian Kisling, a fair veteran of many years,
teamed up with her friend Mary Schrieks, a newcomer this season.
"We had fun and God blessed us!" says Marian. So much
so, that they decided to sign up to return on July 4. Mary adds,
"We had such a good time. About 30 children came in -- It
was a great day to 'get my feet wet' and good practice for the
message. By the 4th I'll be better at it!"
Sonja Luce of Carlsbad (above), who's been at the fair in years
past, returns to help get the message of Jesus out to the kids.
Moms and dads often come in to listen, too.
On Saturday morning Bertha Sarabia of Encinitas, who's been
part of the ministry since the 80s, met and partnered up with new
friend Jill Anderson, a team member this season at the Good News
Club at Hope School in Carlsbad.
On Saturday afternoon Rachel Luce (above, left) and her mom Sonja
came from Carlsbad to team up with Doris East and her longtime
friend Missy Conway, both of Escondido.
In the evening returning volunteers Jack McKee and Evelyn
McDermott meet and make a team. Evelyn displays the gospel
bracelet that all the kids receive, with colors that help explain
the Good News: gold for God and His love, dark for our sin, red
for the blood of Jesus that takes away our sin, clean for hearts
washed by faith in Him, and green for growing as God's children.
PRAYER
NEEDS
PRAY that approval will come through on Monday morning from
the Vista School District so that flyers can be distributed
through nearby schools announcing the 5-Day Club to be held July
19-23 at Landes Park. The district approved them last year, but
time is running out -- school ends on Wednesday!
PRAY for the fair ministry this week. Above, at our class for
fair volunteers on June 8, everyone paired up and took some time
to pray for each other, for all the volunteers, for the parents,
and for the KIDS. Please pray for all these things and ask the
Lord to bring boys and girls with hearts prepared by Him to hear
and respond to His Word. Pray that each volunteer will be blessed
by the Lord in a unique way as they give of their time to serve.
