PRAISE
REPORTS
PRAISE the Lord for new blessings each day during the second
week of our San Diego County Fair outreach. There are always lots
of interesting things for kids to see and learn about at the
fair, like this nature talk on the wonders of the owl on June 19,
right down the way from our Story Castle. Romans 1:20 tells us
that by looking at God's creation "His invisible attributes,
His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen,
being understood through what has been made...." But it's
only by hearing the Good News of Jesus proclaimed from His Word
that anyone can come to know the God of creation as Father.
Denny and Linda Barrett helped to get that message out to
kids and parents on June 13 when they served at the booth on the
second shift of the day along with CEF director Robert Burkley.
Linda, who's been a Good News Club volunteer at a Vista school,
writes, "My husband and I for the first time were part of
the Fair outreach. Watching Robert give the beautiful story of
God's love to more than 70 souls during our shift brought tears
to my eyes. I prayed that the the Word would sink deep into the
hearts of the young and old as my husband stood outside inviting
passersby to hear the Bible story. After our shift we walked
around to enjoy the fair -- we haven't been there in the last 20
years. The greatest thing going at the fair was what was
happening in the little castle, and it was free!"
The morning shift that day was staffed by
Carol Humphrey of San Diego and Ramon Gomez of Vista, both
veterans of the ministry, but who were meeting for the first
time. One of the blessings of the fair outreach is making new
friends and being able to fellowship in Christ while serving
together. Ramon invited the kids in and Carol shared the message
with them and their parents (below).
Diane Llera of El Cajon (center), who's been serving at the fair
for years, met Jessica Sun and Diana Gaines of Escondido (left
and right) when they all arrived on June 19 as the first team of
the day. Jessica and Diana both serve on GNC teams in Escondido
(at Farr Ave., Bernardo, and Miller
schools), but they met for the first time at our class for fair
volunteers on June 8 and decided to travel to Del Mar together.
Diana, who admitted being a little nervous at
first, was soon sharing the message of everlasting life in Jesus
with group after group of kids.
In the afternoon Dave and Maureen Slottje of Oceanside came on
duty. They've been leaders for the past few seasons of the
thriving Good News Club at Mission Meadows School. Dave
and Maureen are "retired" missionaries, and have a long
association working with CEF ministries to kids.

NEEDS
PRAY for helpers
needed to reach kids at the 5-Day Club scheduled for July 19-23
(10:00-11:30am) at Landes Park in Oceanside (above).
Praise God for answering our prayer request from last week --
approval came through from the Vista school district for flyers
that were distributed at nearby Casita School before the
last day on Wednesday! Leader Linda Gonzalez is expecting a big
turnout of kids from the surrounding neighborhoods and a
wonderful opportunity to see lives changed through the power of
the Gospel. If you can help out on one or more days please call
her at 760-613-7588.
PRAY for the teens at CEF's southern California Christian
Youth In Action training program this week at California Baptist
University in Riverside (above). These young people are preparing
as missionaries to reach kids through 5-Day Clubs in their home
areas this summer. State director Bill Gerhardt emails,
"We would appreciate your prayers for this upcoming week of
training (June 19-25). We have a fantastic staff of 17 for the 44
CYIAers that are going to attend. They will be teaching a club
each weekday afternoon from 3:45 - 5:00. We are hoping for a
fruitful week of clubs. Thank you for your prayers and for your
part in making it successful. Will give you a report when we get
back from CYIA."
PRAY for a request for her kids sent in by Jessica
Huebner, leader of the Hope School GNC in Carlsbad,
"that during the summer they would attend a VBS!"
