PRAISE
REPORTS

PRAISE the Lord for another week of opportunity to bring the
truth of God's Word to kids at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Right
around the corner from CEF's Story Castle waits another
fascinating attraction for children -- one of the most Biblical
of creatures, and not just another pretty face. There's lots to
learn about these amazing animals, but the big question for this
species always remains the same: "One hump or two?"

On Saturday morning at the crack of 10:00
Donna Billings and Diane Schnoebelen arrived together from
Escondido to open another day of outreach. They both serve on the
team at the Oak Hill School Good News Club, sponsored for
many years by their church, Cornerstone of Escondido, but both
were first-timers at the fair ministry -- in fact, it was Donna's
first time ever to visit the fair.

Before long the kids were streaming in to listen to the wonderful
way of salvation through Jesus, concluding with ways for God's
children to GROW each day to become more like their Savior.

The joy of the Lord is the strength of the afternoon team on
Saturday, all friends from Shiloh Church in Oceanside and all
part of the Good News Club at nearby Laurel School. From
left, LaKeisha Fairbee, Frank Barron, and Kathyren Smith-Peart.

Afternoon is the busiest time of the day, and
LaKeisha explains the Good News with lots of enthusiasm to a full
house.

On Sunday, the big red letter day, pals Marian Kisling of
Oceanside and Mary Schrieks of San Marcos take the afternoon
shift. Marian led the GNCs at Richland (SM) and Lake (O'side)
schools this season, and Mary served at Lincoln and Pioneer
schools in Escondido. They were so blessed by their first date at
the fair this year that they signed up to return on Independence
Day. The fair continues through Monday.

Two cell phone shots were emailed in earlier this week: Above
center, Doris East of Escondido must hold the record for
volunteers this year -- she has helped on 13 different shifts!
She's flanked by two friends from our sister chapter, CEF of
Greater San Diego, Director Ann Hokstad and Gwen Young.

On Wednesday Tribal Ministry leader Susan Curo
(above center) and friend Sherry Rodriguez (left) traveled all
the way from the La Jolla Reservation to serve in the afternoon
with newcomer Colleen Matsubara of Carlsbad as well as GNC
volunteer Virginia Gill of Escondido (not pictured). Susan
writes, "We all were so blessed to be a part of CEF's castle
this year. It was encouraging to see so many children who
understood and responded to the gospel -- it is amazing to watch
the Holy Spirit at work. Let's keep praying for these kids, that
they will continue to do mighty things for Jesus."
PRAISE God for answered prayer! Already four pastors have
called to express interest in after-school Good News Clubs since
we started sending out informational emails to churches this
week. Please keep praying as the process continues over the next
few weeks.
PRAISE the Lord for more answered prayer! A Bible teacher,
John Nash of Oceanside, has volunteered for the upcoming 5-Day
Club to be held in Landes Park July 19-23. Please continue
praying for helpers as plans move forward.
PRAYER
NEEDS
![]()
PRAY for the needs of our long-running Good News Club at Felicita
School in Escondido. Team leader Beth Mancino, who is on
staff at the school, sends this update: "I am not sure if
you are aware of all the changes at Felicita. It has been an
eventful two months! We were sanctioned by the federal government
because of low test scores, so there is basically a new teaching
staff and a new principal. We are praying for GNC to be accepted
by the new principal and continue. The program has been such a
blessing for our students. We will keep you informed as the
school year draws closer. Thank you for your prayers and
support."
In the fellowship
of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. --Mark 10:14-16
