PRAISE REPORTS

Elephant 2010.07.03

PRAISE the Lord for all the BIG (and little!) things He accomplished in so many lives, young and old, during our outreach this year at the San Diego County Fair! The final report is now in and the record shows:

Children who heard the Gospel: 2,390 (up 100+ from last year!)
Children who responded: 597

Adults & teens who heard: 1,432
Adults who responded: 2
Teens who responded: 3

We had a record 80 volunteers from North County, and on Thursday a big thank you went out to each of them:

Some praises sent in this week by volunteers:

Judy  Erickson (Escondido): "My highlight was meeting three incredible fellow servants -- Linda from Mission Beach, who has an incredible testimony and lots of love and faith, and a couple from way down in San Diego, who came just to pray with us before each shift. They head up wonderful ministries, including one for Bible studies and prayer meetings in the workplace. We met some incredible Christian families -- two stand out. One mother had her 4-year-old daughter recite the Lord's Prayer for us, and said she'd recited it as early as age 1 1/2! Also, a pastor and wife let their two little girls and boy hear the Gospel. They learned about our Good News Clubs in schools and exchanged contact info because this pastor is so impressed with CEF. His inspiring testimony includes getting saved as a rebellious teen."

Colleen  Matsubara
(Carlsbad): "I was truly blessed by Sherry Rodriguez and Susan Curo, my fellow coworkers. One lady walking by gave me a hug and was expressing her thanks for CEF and the volunteers. All the glory goes to God!"

Tiffany Lien (Carmel Valley): "The time I spent volunteering in the Story Castle was a huge blessing! I loved every minute of it and hope to do it for many summers to come!"

Laurel GNC 2010.06.15

PRAISE
God for our dedicated Good News Club teams! In May, a month before school had dismissed for the year, La Keisha Fairbee (above), leader of our GNC at Laurel School in Oceanside, had already contacted us about applying for next fall! The paperwork was submitted right away and approval came through from the district on June 14, making this the first club to be all ready to go for the upcoming season -- the club is scheduled to start Sep 7.

Team member Frank Barron (above) guards some very intriguing snacks on the last day of club, June 15, when all these shots were taken.

The kids have just got to ham it up for an end-of-season picture! When summer vacation started, Frank, La Keisha (back right) and Kathyren Smith-Peart (back, 3rd from left) kept right on reaching kids at the County Fair on July 3 and 5.

Ruth Schilberg 2010.06.20

PRAISE
the Lord for faithful servants who never quit! Ruth Schilberg has been volunteering with CEF since the 50s, much of that time spent right here in North County. Besides leading her own GNCs, many of our school clubs were blessed by having Ruth (often disguised as "Jingles") come as a special guest to amaze and instruct the kids with her Gospel illusions and ballooning skills. We are still getting requests for her to visit clubs, but many are aware that Ruth moved to Oregon a couple of years ago to be closer to family. Since then she's been up to her old tricks, as in this photo shot on June 20 at an event at the Pottsville historical museum in Merlin, OR. Our loss is their gain!

PRAYER NEEDS

Mailbox Club

PRAY
for all the kids who came to the Story Castle in June and July. Please pray for those who heard the Gospel but haven't yet believed. Pray that the Lord would use the Word of God which they heard to open the eyes of their understanding and lead them to faith. Pray for kids who did come to faith in response to the Word. Pray that the Lord would help them to stay on the narrow way, to take steps of growth each day, and to spend time with God in prayer and in the Bible. Pray that they would be able to go to a sound church. Pray that Christian kids who visited the castle will be encouraged to share the Good News with their family and friends and that they'll have a renewed dedication to growing as God's children and living for Him. Pray that all the kids who signed up for the Mailbox Club will receive their lessons and be faithful to complete the course. Pray that lives will be changed as a result!

In the fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.   --Mark 10:14-16
