PRAISE REPORTS

5-Day Club Landes Park 2010.07.19

PRAISE the Lord for His superabundant grace at this past week's 5-Day Club at Landes Park in Oceanside! Leader Linda Gonzalez writes, "We were blessed far beyond all expectation. Every group almost doubled in size from day 1 to day 5. More than 80 children, plus mothers, heard the gospel. There were 38 professions of faith and many consecrations."

The club was favored with a HUGE team of volunteers, including three public school teachers -- Casita Center School, where Linda leads the GNC, is right nearby. At the sign-in table on Monday are Keri, Carolyn, Leeann, John, and Lora. Linda adds, "And some teenagers who were there last year returned as volunteers! What a blessing they were, too. It was beautiful witnessing God at work inthe way these volunteers served Him with love and  joy every day and seeing God put this club together as only He could do when there was no team. All honor, praises and glory are His!" Other team members not pictured include Berta, Richard, Ron, Mary, Enrique, and Carina. "We want to thank Ken, Roxye, and Doris who came out to encourage us with their presence. God bless every one of them."

Teen brothers Josh and Luke take charge of the GAMES! Tons of fun is an absolute requirement at any 5-Day Club!

And so is learning from God's Word! Bible teacher John Nash explains from the parable of the lost sheep in Luke 15 that Jesus is the Good Shepherd who seeks out straying sinners and brings them into His fold. The memory verse that first day was John 10:11 ...I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. "God greatly used John to teach the gospel to the children," reports Linda.
"We were blessed to tears in hearing one of the boys from the older group say that he liked the games and activities at club, but he liked most of all coming for the Bible. He then took a gospel bookmark and placed it inside his New Testament he had been given and said that's the way he would carry it."

The whole group was split up by age levels, and here the older kids gather on Friday to complete a craft project related to what they've been learning. "One of the mothers from a Catholic background said that her son liked the club because he said this was different," says Linda. "She thanked us and said, 'Yes, I don't know how to explain it, but there is something different here.' Some mothers who first met at club started bringing the children of those who were working so their children would not miss.

"Thank you, Father, Son and Holy Spiritfor all that You have done. Thank you, faithful prayer warriors -- God answered many prayers. Thank you for being co-laborers with us."

North Broadway School

PRAISE God for an 8-year-old girl who attends our Good News Club at North Broadway School in Escondido (above) and for her mom, Kari, who recalls what GNC has meant in her own life and sends encouragement to all our volunteers:

When I was a little girl my mother had a club at our house. The flannelgraph stories really came alive to me. I still remember some of the songs, and I am sure many of the Bible verses I still know were from that time. I saw children that normally would not get to go to church listening to the stories of the Bible and the plan of salvation.

I am glad it is still the same. Now, my daughter gets to go to GNC after school -- but I see something new. Many of us who grew up learning the word are teaching our children, but sometimes we must think they get some by osmosis, or our churches may not have a children's program. When I pick her up, my daughter loves to tell me what she is learning or show me what she has made. It is good to know that she has spent an hour enjoying hearing about the Lord! Going to GNC fills in what may be missed and makes learning a super enjoyable experience -- the kind that makes fruitful memories.

It is a BLESSING to get to share the necessity and joy of a relationship with God through Jesus.....a TREASURE to know that the true treasure of the word of God is being gently placed into a young heart.....a JOY to see children smiling as they keep songs in their hearts and on their lips. I hope you know what a blessing, treasure, and joy you are to bring the knowledge of salvation to our little ones.

We truly thank the Lord Jesus for the freedom to hear the Word of God in this country, for people who will teach and share it, and for the hearts to hear and do it. May the Lord guide you this year and always. We may grow up, but we never forget!!!!

From my 8 year old daughter:
It was fun, we got to do crafts, watch Jesus movies, sing songs, talk about the Lord, and pray. Every week we do some games and sometimes we do bubbles and at the end they give us some treats. The teachers are very encouraging and they are very sweet teachers and they talk about the Lord very goodly. I always feel excited when school is over and I get to go to Good News Club. And sometimes when I forget to go, the friends from my class that go there remind me. Next year I will invite some people to GNC because I want them to learn about the Lord and help them to go to heaven.

Point Loma Nazarene University

PRAISE
God for more responses by churches to the GNC info emails we have been sending out. On Monday Karisa May, who leads children's ministry at Las Flores Church in Carlsbad, called to ask if she might give a PowerPoint presentation based on the information in the email to 400 pastors and church leaders at a SW regional conference held on Tuesday in SD at Point Loma Nazarene University (above)! She was also putting an info packet together to send to all those who asked for it at the conference. Karisa has served as a GNC teacher on our team at McAuliffe School, and is hoping to be able to get a team together for a club at Buena Vista School right across the street from her church or Magnolia School nearby. Please pray that the Lord will make it a reality this season, and that many of those who learned of GNCs at the conference will follow through and bring new clubs to schools all across the SW states!

PRAYER NEEDS

San Elijo School

PRAY
for a request sent in by Jukay Lu, leader of our GNC at Sage Canyon School: "Lisa Rodgers is a mom whom I met today at Horizon VBS. She has been very interested in having a GNC in her daughter's school, San Elijo Elementary in the San Marcos district (photo above). Will you pray with me for God's guidance and help every step of the way to see His plan fulfilled at this new school site, especially finding additional faithful volunteers to form a team, encouragement to take the first step, and ways to spread the word about GNC in her school?"

La Costa Heights School

PRAY
for a mother at La Costa Heights School in the Encinitas district (above) who called on Thursday to say she learned of GNCs from a friend and wants to start one at her school. She already knows 4 or 5 moms who are interested! Please pray for the Lord's wisdom and provision as they move forward to reach the kids at a school which has never before had a GNC.

Ashley Falls School

PRAY
for a 5th & 6th grade children's ministry leader at a church in Carmel Valley who learned about GNCs from our email and is interested in seeing a club at Ashley Falls School (above), which is right down the street from his church. Please pray that God would guide as he takes the idea to the children's pastor. Pray that the Lord would bring a club to fruition at this unreached school.

PRAY for the pastor of Ranchland Church in the 4S Ranch area who responded to our email about GNCs and would like to see his church sponsoring a club at a local school. Please pray as he sends out word of the opportunity in the church newsletter and seeks the Lord's direction about which school would be best, Monterey Ridge, Westwood, or Del Sur. Please pray for committed team members.

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.   --Mark 10:14-16
