When the Lord brought judgment on Egypt for enslaving Israel, only the blood on the doorposts of God's people delivered them from death. How many children today have heard this story without ever understanding that it was written to show us that it is only the blood of Jesus that is able to deliver us from the wages of our sin?

We'll be learning how to help kids understand and respond to the life-changing truths found in familiar episodes in the life of Moses at our upcoming Teachers Forum. It's for all Good News Club team members, and everyone involved in any type of kids' ministry will benefit:

PRAISE REPORTS



PRAISE the Lord that our Good News Club at Felicita School in Escondido will be continuing to bring God's Word to the community -- last season the school (photo below) narrowly escaped being closed down! On Wednesday the team held a meeting and is now ready to start Sep 14. Leader Mary Schuhler (above) emails a report and some prayer needs: "Because of the huge change over at Felicita this year, details on rooms and teachers is coming slowly because they don't even know which way is up right now. Please add to the Praise and Prayer Bulletin: Pray for the GNC staff needed at Felicita and that God would bring to us the talents we need for each job (such as a song leader). Pray that the kids at Felicita would get excited to return to GNC, and bring their friends. Ask that God's glory and love would be made known clearly at Felicita through us this year!"






PRAISE the Lord for the opportunity to speak about the Good News Club ministry to a group on the big new campus of North Coast Church in Vista (above) at a luncheon on Sep 24. Jeanelle Higgins, who teaches the Bible lesson at our Mission Meadows School GNC, arranged for us to come, and she is hoping that many at her church will want to get involved when they find out what it's all about. Please be in prayer for a good response to the need for volunteers at Mission Meadows and for lots of interest in reaching other area schools as well!



PRAISE God for an invitation to be part of a big gospel outreach to the community at Balderrama Park in Oceanside (above) on Oct 9. It is to be sponsored by nearby Shiloh Church, which has been conducting the Good News Club down the street at Laurel School for the last few seasons. We'll be out at the park with our street fair canopy, inviting the kids in to make gospel bracelets and hear about who Jesus is and why He came for them. Please pray that this event will change many lives and make a really meaningful difference in the neighborhood!

PRAISE the Lord for a homeschool mom in Poway who called this week to say she would like to volunteer at any school nearby that could use her help. She plans to spread the word to others in her homeschool group -- please pray that many will want to be a part of GNCs.

PRAYER NEEDS



PRAY for our second season of Good News Club at Orange Glen School in Escondido (above). Leader Anna Vargas writes, "I kinda feel what Moses did when he asked God to give him someone to speak for him. I have commitments form Lisa and Emily, but I would like to have at least two more helpers. Please keep me in prayer on this. I want to reach the children yet I don't want to be the one in charge. I just keep feeling that nudge from the Holy Spirit telling me to take the step God has given me and He will provide." Anna emailed Saturday to say she'd like to start the club Sep 23. We'll be submitting the application this week -- please pray we'll get use of the MPR or other large space, and that the Lord will indeed provide the help needed as the club goes forward in faith.



PRAY as our "Teen Good News Club" at Bear Valley Middle School in Escondido (above) is about to get underway again. Leader Eric Maggio, youth pastor at Bethel Baptist Church, has a number of kids at his church attending BV this year who can help form a core group at the club. Pray that our application will be approved smoothly. and also that word of the club will really reach the students this year. Pray that area churches will distribute the announcements to their kids who attend BV so that they can be inviting friends at school. Eric plans to appear in the daily TV program at the school to invite the kids -- please pray it brings a big response. Pray also for the needed team members and support from the Christian faculty members.

PRAY for our second season of GNC at Turtleback School in the Poway district. Leader Kelly DeHaan called to say she wants to continue, but as with so many clubs, there is an urgent need for helpers. Please pray that the Lord will supply. Also please pray about the club Kelly led at Oak Valley Middle School last year which had such disappointing attendance. Please pray for the Lord's guidance about how the kids at this school might best be reached for Him.
